still favourites to sign Broadhead as unlikey to sign Everton contract offer according to echo Sunderland favourites to sign Nathan Broadhead with new Everton contract unlikely | Sunderland Echo would not be first time Scott Wilson talked bollocks
They keep signing big name individual players, not team players...Long may it continue. I'd also be tempted to give Ten Hag, 6 months if yesterday is anything to go by.
Aye he called the Bass signing before anyone too. Only way it could be justified is if Neil feels we need more defensive options with us playing 3 CB's and matching teams in this league.
Barcelona are in the state they are in because they have been indulged for years. Madrid too. Barca have sold 25% of TV rights for twenty years to US private equity funds, and these Americans will have their money. Barca were given dispensation , along with the two Madrids and Bilbao I think, to avoid constituting themselves more like a PLC. Hence more indiscipline. They are also in receipt of a whopping " loan" from the Catalan gov. Ditto Madrid from the Spanish government. All the money is gone. They are both well over a £1bn in debt and still spend like a drunken sailor whose bet has come up. They are betting it all on the ESL, which will rear it's head again next year when the ECJ rules in their favour. The Premier League's craven and venal administrators will then take their little bit, and we'll be back to where we were 18 months ago . No sympathy at all for Barca or Madrid, and every player should be paid every penny.
Yes, when he says specifics he's almost always right. its his usual cryptic nonsense that you can ignore. If he's being specific enough to say we are trying to sign a free agent centre back, I'd be very surprised if he's wrong (even if its not the position I'd be going for). As others have said however, I do think our best formation is to have 2 strikers, and when Neil has two strikers that usually means 3 centre backs. So another centre back makes sense.
Jamal Lowe is a great shout by the way. Bournemouth signed him to help get promoted but there's no way he's playing regularly in the Premier League. Bournemouth haven't recruited much yet but you've got to think that once they do he'll be available
Am I the only one who thinks we’re ok for wingers ? We have a good one not getting a game, two on the bench and another largely playing right back in a team that may well play with wing backs
Here's a random list of out of contract center backs that I reckon are within reach. Out of this list I'd be intrigued by Barbet and Nordtveit. Especially as Nordveit can play cb and cm (although he's getting on...) but he brings experience. Barbet has played 86/92 championship games in the last two seasons as a LCB for QPR. He'd be PERFECT. The others all have their merits. Sean Morrison - 31 (was Cardiff's captain but dropped out of side last year, not sure why) Alfie Mawson - 28 (was at Fulham and on loan at Bristol City last year. Bit older than our normal profile but kinda fits the profile in that he's a previously very highly rated player still at a good age who has fallen off the radar a bit) Michael Hector - 30 (another one who was at Fulham and fell down pecking order as they bought their way to promotion) Philippe Sandler - 25 (ex-Man City youngster - was at Feyenoord last year) Yoann Barbet - 29 (can also play left back - was Brentford captain then at QPR last year and played regularly but couldn't agree new deal. Would be awesome LCB in my opinion). played every game for QPR the season before last and 40/46 last year. Havard Nordteil - 32 (released by Hoffenheim, played in the premier for West Ham, 52 caps for Norway, can also play center mid) Lamine Kone (hahahahaha)
He's a different type of winger to Dajaku and Gooch for example though. And he can play as a 9 alongside Stewart or Simms if needed, if 2 up top is the way to go.
Gooch and Clarke are the starters, with Roberts as backup. Diamond not up to the standard and not convinced about Dajaku, I wouldn't be against another winger coming in and selling Diamond
I think Dajaku will take time to settle but I really think the lad can play at PL level. He hasn't had a great start and would benefit from game time if he can force his way in. Great for the bench as he's adaptable.
