Vvd pulled his leg away, if there was any contact was with nitro’s right leg.

As vvd pulled his leg away, mitros left leg somehow flung out to the side and his right leg collapsed under him. Was a clear dive.

Ah well lads, I’m surprised we won based on what I heard. Seems like we are a tad off the pace. Stupid pre-season but it was the same as everyone else’s in terms of time so only ourselves to blame.

Exactly. That's why I'm laughing at the dangled/left his leg there comments, he just didn't.

100% dive but with minute contact, not all contact is a foul

Think Bobby will be better as an impact sub. I said further up that at one stage he playing 6, never mind 8 yesterday, he'd come so deep. Hendo, as you say, should have had room on the right because Fulham were swamping the midfield area between the boxes and leaving the flanks to themselves. Elliott came on and did just that, and this freed Mo up. Bottom line is, Dawin pulls defences, especially cb's and dm's, all over the show - Bobby just retreats further back down the pitch to get the ball off his own DM. Darwin, to his credit, is playing more like Mane in that position, even though it wasn't Mane's favourite position.

Not sure why klopp doesn’t either play 4231 if wants to play Bobby. As Nunez will stretch teams running behind so Bobby can operate in that 10 role.

or just stick him in midfield on that left hand side.

We started off slow, and that's always a worrying sign to me. Often we'll just keep grinding away until the difference in class shows, but on occasion we come unstuck like yesterday.
Win lose or draw, it's not the way I want to see us play.
Heavy metal football? More like a round of golf with Bing Crosby.
I don't see any point in singling out individuals, it was just a very mediocre and complacent team performance.
Still, we're always going to have such games now and then, so time to move on.
Our whole attacking game is going to change a lot with Nunez in the team, I'm expecting a lot of goals from him.

Just can’t see how Bobby fits into this team anymore because we have Jota and Darwin for the CF role ahead of bobby. I can’t even see him performing well in a 10 role either - his legs have gone now. He’ll be very lucky if we offer him a contract extension …

Firmino will be fine in space. He's pointless v a massed defense

Against top sides he can drop into midfield and do a job for us as he's done for years.

Tbf I not a GK but I think the distance travelled and space made it very difficult for him
Can see both sides on this one

have to admit I did wonder about a foul on Trent but no one mentioned it so figured it was just me

I think that was one where we see some given and some not as the season goes on

Mitrovic climbed a bit on Trent, but Trent just wasn't strong enough or sufficiently aware, so no complaints from me.
Neither am I upset about the pen being given - Mitro threw himself to the ground yes, but there was clear contact and they're given often enough.
Circumstances surrounding the goals notwithstanding, we just about deserved a point, and just about got one - so the right result imo.

The first goal is grossly unfair to be blaming the keeper. he has to move a long way.

a: Robertson: picture below. ideal positioning. Look at matip here. looking at trent with two men. he can just see the short arse. He's not thought wheres the big danger.

    upload_2022-8-8_11-9-50.png

    b) Robbos lost it here already he's reacted a second late to the over lap and the lad is quick.
    upload_2022-8-8_11-11-6.png

    3. trent has already made an error. Hes not ever looked round so has no clue whos behind him but he has also let his man go. VVD has seen the ball go wide and retreted to near zone and matip is just still plodding back. He's not even looking at trents mad. Alli is pointing, a decent position.
    upload_2022-8-8_11-20-51.png

    4. The ball has struck robbo and looped up. Matip has actually completely lost trent's man and trent is now idling back with no idea whats coming behind. Matip has got lucky that its not dropped to the man who ran past him while he was asleep.

Alisson is now moving to the back stick.

    upload_2022-8-8_11-23-40.png

    5. alisson is in decent position. Trent never stops up to block nor leaps and is caught under mitrovic. this is not a foul in the english league. he's coming over the player

    upload_2022-8-8_11-28-3.png

6.. This is what alisson faces. Powered header high over his head form 3 yards. trents done zip to put the guy off. not sure what reactions you want alisson to have here to react to that header cos it can go anywhere so by the time he gets his hand up its too late
    upload_2022-8-8_11-33-28.png

Alisson is a giant keeper the ball has gone in right under the cross bar. not only that but theres a ****ing tap in form the guy both matip and trent left. IMO alissons done well just to get a hand to that

5% of blame to henderson for pussying out and laying down as in fact he should have been picking up mitrovic off that break as the guy was loitering well behind trent and available for a block fby RCM.

5% to Robertson for not blocking corss. The guy was too quick.

10% blame to matip who looked round and didn't even consider the one and only danger man for crosses.

80% blame to the useless effort trent made at marking his own man or even considering where mitrovic was.

Disagree............nothing wrong with Ali's positioning,he had plenty of time to get to his far post.
It certainly wasn't a 'powered header' though,I think he could have done better.

Can't remember the last game the whole team was off the pace. Fulham away is one of our bogey games but that game was very winnable if we played to our usual strengths.

Clear foul on Henderson in the build up to their first, reminded me of the foul on Origi at OT a couple of years ago. I'd even say Trent was fouled for the goal notwithstanding that he should have been stronger. Never a penalty but you see them given. What got me was the pained look on Mitrovic's face as he went down holding his leg. I hate cheating. He couldn't stay on his feet all game. The ref bought everything that Fulham were selling. Pity Henderson's shot didn't win it for us. I don't care whether we deserved it or not. I always want the old saying 'cheats never prosper' to come to pass.

A wake up call, no doubt. We have to play much better and we will.
