Labour MP Naz Shah has been criticised for retweeting and liking a tweet saying abuse victims should ‘shut their mouths for the good of diversity’
A Labour MP has been criticised for sharing a Twitter post telling Rotherham sex abuse victims to ‘shut their mouths for the good of diversity’.

Naz Shah, who represents Bradford West, shared and liked a post tweeted out from a parody account of newspaper columnist Owen Jones.

Trump protester shot in the groin with rubber bullet
It said: ‘Those abused girls in Rotherham and elsewhere just need to shut their mouths. For the good of diversity.’

The 43-year-old later deleted her retweet and unliked the post.

But she was criticised by the Equality and Human Rights Commission chief executive Rebecca Hilsenrath who said the MP should ‘know better’.

She deleted it shortly after (Picture: Twitter)
Ms Hilsenrath said: ‘We need to keep the victims of these horrific crimes at the heart of the debate and always remember that diversity is not served by silence.’

Ms Shah’s comments come just days after she attacked fellow Labour MP Sarah Champion for speaking out about the Rotherham sex scandal in article.

In the letter, published in The Sun, Ms Shah accused Ms Champion’s comments of being ‘blanket, racialised loaded statements’ which stigmatised the Pakistani community.

She added that the article was ‘irresponsible’ and set a ‘dangerous precedent’.

A spokeswoman for Naz Shah told the paper: ‘This was a genuine accident eight days ago that was rectified within minutes. To suggest otherwise is absolute nonsense.

‘[Naz] has and will continue to advocate for all victims, and work towards eradicating this evil from society.’

Ms Shah was suspended by the Labour Party in 2016 for making anti-Semitic remarks

Yet who is in the headline? It’s almost as though the article is aimed at his supporters

Why would you do that? MPs or Mp? Either way it’s horrific and abhorrent but whilst he should have been sacked 100% it’s not the stance of the party

Leave aside the individuals, the paedophile gang culture among the Pakistani community is a scandal. Labour run Oldham Council have turned their back to it for years, instead following a pc agenda and hoping for ethnic votes. It came to a head when the foster mother of one of the children gang-raped was given an ASBO by Oldham Council for daring to complain. One of the peadophile leaders was employed by the Council.

Now the council are being investigated by the police, but since this was called for by Andy Burham, it may be a whitewash. We'll see.

    Congrats to the UK Government.
With help of cross party initiatives, thousands of future citizens can now call the UK home, benefitting from new employment in drug cartels, prostitution, pickpocketing, child labour and paedophilia groups. The UK is the new Land of Opportunity

It always has been. Then they can pay something back to their benefactors mainly although not exclusively I accept, the Conservative Party which has never cared much where the money comes from as long as it's been cleaned up sufficiently.

Pure coincidence that Les Gendarmes do it just before France's renegotiation with Priti Patel after which they expect to be paid tens of millions of pounds more by the UK for their beach patrols.

Baig, pictured, has been jailed at Bradford Crown Court

A CRUEL and depraved Bradford man has been jailed for three years for having sexual intercourse with chickens and possessing indecent images of children.

Rehan Baig, 37, hoarded sick home movies of his violation of the birds that all died from his perverted and despicable acts, Bradford Crown Court heard today.

His wife, Haleema Baig, 38, who joined in with the depravity at the family home in Shepherd Street, Great Horton, and filmed some of it on her mobile phone, was spared an immediate jail sentence.

The court heard that the indecent images of children as young as six, and the depraved home movies, came to light when the National Crime Agency raided the couple’s home on July 9 last year.

Computers and a phone were seized and images found that Judge Richard Mansell QC said would make right-thinking people “sick to the stomach.”

Rehan Baig was filmed on a GoPro camera, and by his wife, having sex with a number of chickens on different occasions. One of the birds was dead at the time and he was caught on camera putting another carcase into a bin bag.

Prosecutor Abigail Langford said the home movies were made in the cellar or basement at the couple’s home.

Other depraved footage showed the couple sexually abusing a dog.

Police found a covert camera in the bedroom which Haleema Baig seemed unaware of, the court was told.

The senior care assistant claimed to be the victim of her husband’s controlling and coercive behaviour. But Miss Langford said it was the Crown’s case that she was a willing participant.

The court heard that the sexual abuse killed the chickens. It was believed they had been family pets but there were none at the address when the police searched it.

“The defendant caused the death of the chickens on each occasion,” Miss Langford said.

Rehan Baig admitted three counts of intentionally performing an act of penetration on live chickens. He also admitted possessing extreme pornographic images; three charges of making indecent photographs of children; and possessing cocaine and cannabis resin.

His wife pleaded guilty to three aiding and abetting counts, namely filming her husband having sexual intercourse with a chicken.

Simon Hustler, for Rehan Baig, said the offences had attracted national and international publicity, including making news in Pakistan, Spain and Germany.

“They have attracted derision, loathing and ridicule,” he said.

Baig had been unable to leave his home and even had to send out for cigarettes.

“It’s a lengthy sentence he must serve, if not a life sentence in many respects,” Mr Hustler said.

The films seized by the police had been made several years ago.

John Bottomley, for Haleema Baig, said she, like her husband, was of previous good character.

She had left her husband because she alleged he was abusive to her, and she was now living in a refuge.

“The punishment is the shame and humiliation for the rest of her life,” Mr Bottomley said.

Sentencing her to six months’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with a rehabilitation activity requirement, Judge Mansell said there may have been an element of manipulation and coercion by her husband.

He told Rehan Baig he was guilty of “unspeakable cruelty to the animals he abused for his own sexual gratification.”

“The pain and suffering was horrific that you inflicted on these chickens,” the judge said.

Baig had also committed “depraved, perverted and despicable acts” by hoarding images of young children being sexually abused.

“They are the victims of human trafficking and exploitation,” he said.

The “home movies” of Baig having sex with the chickens were “simply beyond comprehension,” Judge Mansell said.

Rehan Baig was banned for life from keeping any animal and he must sign on the sex offender register, also for life.

Risky game being played by the Democrats in sending the FBI into Trump's holiday residence. If nothing is found, the sympathy of the voting public in America may well lie with their ex-President as he seeks to be re-elected.

French government has rolled over its decision to cap energy price rises at 4% into 2023.

The Government will make up the difference between the wholesale price and the lower retail price resulting from this cap.

Presumably the money to do this will come from tax, which the rich pay more of, and borrowing.

Of course, the French government is actually subsidising itself because it owns over 83% of EDF. EDF, in common with all other energy retailers in the U.K. has raised it prices as instructed by OFGEM, by 54% so far with much more to come.

So, the British consumer, or those getting their energy from EDF, is indirectly subsidising both the French Government and the French consumer. Neat.

Meanwhile the candidate who will become our next PM wants to cut taxes, a move that her competition for the top Tory dog spot notes will only benefit the rich, and won’t help those who will struggle most with this insane energy price inflation at all.

Here’s an idea. Copy the French, cap the prices at a much lower level, or just freeze them where they are, and subsidise the companies instead. Fund it with the £30bn Truss wants to give away. But don’t just give the companies the money - get some shares in return. Because it would save them a lot of pain given the number of their customers who will have to default and not pay their bills, or not spend any money on energy, it’s not just about the cash.

We should nationalise EDF's UK operation.

Why just EDF? They are playing by exactly the same rules as all of the other companies. I’m just glad that some ordinary people are benefitting from it, even if they are French.

It would be great if we owned a slice of EDF though.
