    Carragher: “Martinez, he’s a big player coming in. He’s 5’9”.” <doh>

So despite McTominay not getting a blatant red and despite Brighton not getting a penalty from Martinez shoving their player in the back, Utd still lose 2-1 at home.

Welcome to the Prem, ten Hag.

Sounds like incidents that won't appear on MOTD to me.

Their managers know the deal when they sign : CL (by whatever avenue) or P45.

Losing the first game of the PL season, when a home game,
is the worst scenario for their new manager.

We also know what Brighton are like. Nevertheless, he has the right name, ten hag, now 10-1 to be the first manager sacked.

It really was a disasterclass from ten Hag. Only a first game and first impression and I'm sure things will get better with time but whenever a manager comes in you always hope for at least a few micro positives to begin with... there wasn't any.

Style of play was still more or less non-existent, as it had been under the final months of Ole's tenure and all of Rangnicks.
Persisted with dross such as Maguire, Fred and McTominay. Sancho still looks ****e as well, he's the English Pepe. Rashford as I've said many times is nothing more than a squad player too.
Didn't think much of Martinez, I actually said to Brunel and Pinks over on their board when they were initially linked with him that I'd be cautious of playing a 5'9 CB as part of a CB pairing and I stand by it, especially when his CB partner is Maguire <doh>. In a back three he'd be good I think as he seems very comfortable on the ball but in a pairing I think the Prem might eat him alive with aerial balls and the physicality.

    Anyway enough about ten Hag.

Graham Potter is a top class manager.

Feel like I've said this a hell of a lot the last couple years.

Yes potter is class. Even with the ref doing his best to keep United in the game he outdoes then having lost some decent players.

They still play good stuff as well.

How the hell did they also allow that handball goal to stand too

So bad that even their mates in black can't save them any more.

His reputation is only growing as the seasons goes on. If Rodgers left Leicester then they do well to go for Potter

There's a tendency to forget about bias in favour of ManU because they did so badly last season and haven't won this match. That doesn't make it right, or something we should forget about. In fact I'd contend that ManU last season that did so badly compared to the season before weren't any worse, they just had fewer decisions in their favour than usual (notably penalties). In this game they were given more than enough decisions to win them the game, it's only because they were so bad and Brighton so good that they failed to do so. Please let's not forget about the officials performance today, even if it won't be mentioned on MOTD.

Going to be interesting to see if Conte comes up with a plan to contain Haaland apart from Cuti putting a chair over his head in the tunnel before KO

Chair over his head? He does that to his own team mates to celebrate a goal, bone saw I would suggest, make him 3 foot shorter.
