So thinking about this overnight and checking this morning, you all actually did forecast Shrewsbury v Accrington (rather than Sheffield), including SMH who got the 3 points on the game. That being so, I don't think anyone suffered any scoring disadvantage from my subsequent error. Is everybody happy that that is the case?

Yes I looked at the the fixtures last night Lyndy and they're spread from Tuesday through to Thursday, presumably because of the timing of league games during the weekends before and after.

I thought we'd do the 6 Wednesday fixtures, which gives a reasonable number for a mid-week cup round and includes our game. At least they're all EFL clubs and not Rutland & West Lincolnshire Charity League etc.

    So that's:

As far as I can see, extra time is not played in Rounds 1 to 5 and drawn games go straight to penalties at 90 minutes, but for the avoidance of doubt, we'll take scores before penalties.

notDistant.....your Coventry game might be in doubt.

Their Sunday League game against Rotherham has been postponed after the pitch was deemed unsafe and unplayable.

Their ground is the home to the rugby club Wasps....and it has been used as a venue for the Commonwealth Games rugby sevens tournament...as well as concerts.

Investment by the owners over the summer has not materialised because of concerts and it's use by the Commonwealth Games.

So not sure about the Coventry v Bristol C Cup game being on at the moment.

If we all follow the BBC listings then we will get our prediction games right....whatever you put down notDistant......you can put down Bellingham Sinfonia Recreation if you like....a northern amateur club I used to take note of in the 1950/60s when Bromley were a top English amateur club in the Isthmian League.

    Blackburn v Hartlepool 2-0 Joker
    Middlesbrough v Barnsley 3-0
    Port Vale v Rotherham 1-2
    Sheff Weds v Sunderland 1-0
    Plymouth v Peterborough 2-0 45 mins
    Coventry v Bristol City 2-2

Nobody on Radio Bristol mentioned about the Coventry game being in doubt. In fact after the game they asked Pearson about what sort of side he would pick

Just two league games played...and there is only one team on maximum points in Div One....that is unexpected.....and that team is ...Peterborough.

So guess who our next game is against... Peterborough in that Cup thingy.....and following that we will be playing guess who...Peterborough in the league....both at Home Park.

If BC is too busy hunting bear not to read my reminder above then I think we should give him 10 min goal time as he always does that number and never ever wavers.

Everyone got Blackburn to beat Hartlepool with jokers. Geniuses eh? Except Sensible, but he redeemed himself with the goal time and a spot on score for Port Vale v Rotherham. Plym also got that game spot as did Musty and SMH.

    upload_2022-8-11_9-35-8.png

Rash-Gamble-Of-The-Week goes to Joe who alone predicted Barnsley (very average to be kind when they played at Home Park on the opening day) to beat Middlesborough, and by the right score too. Outstanding.

    upload_2022-8-11_9-34-36.png

Joe continues his dominance of P1 but with Sensible vaulting up to third from what was a tightly packed mid-table. Slightly less tightly packed now of course due to a disappointing result from an unnamed individual.

So, there is one game (Bristol Rovers v Oxford United) at 12:30, otherwise it's a straightforward Saturday programme.

I'm going to add a special Heatwave Scorcher in the form of a 10 point bonus for anyone who gets the overall total number of goals scored over the whole fixture list exactly right and a more realistic 3 points for the closest. Just do your forecasts as usual, no need to add them up unless you want to, as I can do it for you. You can trust me.
