Similar to this bloke but Turkish

First of many Deja Vu fixtures all being played at roughly the same time as they did last season. Played Tigers first game at home last season, the initial introduction of Frankie Ball to the fams, by December Frankie's balls had gone didn't exactly uphill after being mauled by the Tigers in this one

Hopefully, NE will have shaken off the early season nerves and soothed the Wigan clash bruises. I thought city played the better football but had the referee to contend with. Riis and Parrot must remember to bring their shooting boots to the ground and perhaps be slightly more coordinated up front. Brady is a class act at this level and he can cross almost pin-point. Browne was sluggish but that is not surprising. I do think a win is on the cards for NE having watched the Hull-BC match. Just hope NE doesn't get that ref.

PNE will be without striker Ched Evans following his red card at Wigan Athletic last weekend.

Bambo Diaby, who missed the trip to the DW Stadium, is a doubt for this one after taking a knock to his knee, while Sean Maguire remains sidelined.

It could be a big day for Daniel Johnson on Saturday, given that an appearance would make him the 28th man in club history to play 300 times competitively in a PNE shirt.

It’s been a year of change so far for Hull City, since the arrival of Turkish businessman and TV personality, Acun Ilıcalı as owner in January 2022.

One of his first acts was to bring Shota Arveladze to the club as head coach, and this summer there have been eight new players through the door, too.

Among them they have a 65-time capped Turkish international in Ozan Tufan, former Nottingham Forest defender Tobias Figueiredo and ex-Fulham man Jean Michaël Seri, with the latter claiming a late winner in last weekend’s victory over Bristol City.

    Going Head To Head

    Games played: 64
    PNE wins: 29
    Draws: 14
    Hull City wins: 21
Last meeting: Hull City 0-1 PNE, 5th February 2022

Having once cost Fulham a fee reported to be over £20m, Hull City probably couldn’t believe their luck when they were able to bring Jean Michaël Seri in this summer without having to pay a transfer fee.

The Ivory Coast international had just seen his contract expire at Craven Cottage, where he enjoyed promotion last season, and he will now spend the upcoming campaign in the Championship as a Tiger.

Things couldn’t have started much better for central midfielder Seri, scoring a 94th-minute winner in front of almost 17,000 supporters on his competitive debut.

Jeremy Simpson is the man with the whistle this weekend for his first Championship game of the season.

Simpson, who took charge of Tranmere Rovers vs Stevenage last weekend, refereed PNE three times during the 2021/22 campaign, including the 2-1 victory away to Stoke City at the beginning of 2022.

He will be assisted by Richard Wild and Geoffrey Liddle, while Peter Wright is the fourth official.

    MACS VIEW

A very quiet build up on this game from the club basically a news blackout until Thursday, given it's the first home game of the season would have expected a lot more
Decent point last week although feedback from those that went wasn't overly positive. Personal view McCann needs to play but will Mr Fantastic agree with me. Difficukt game who seem to be buying the entire Turkish League, the land of Green Ginger must have some attraction after all

This dive you mean? The one that ripped his sock?

Would probably have been a red card with VAR.

No one is denying the fall was a little "odd" though ;)

Despite a dominant second-half display, Preston North End had to settle for a point at home to Hull City.

Following a relatively quiet opening half to the game, PNE came out firing in the second period, with the likes of Robbie Brady and Troy Parrott coming close, but they couldn’t find the all-important opener.

Ryan Lowe named an unchanged starting XI from the opening day draw against Wigan Athletic, while Daniel Johnson was handed the armband by Alan Browne on his 300th appearance for the club.

There were fantastic scenes as the teams walked out, with those in the Town End waving hundreds of flags as they welcomed their side back to Deepdale.

Those fans were almost off their seats within just four minutes of kick-off, as Emil Riis tested Matt Ingram with a low fizzing effort, but the goalkeeper was equal to it.

Former Hull man Brady soon also tested Ingram, before at the other end both Jacob Greaves and Óscar Estupiñán saw efforts go narrowly over the crossbar.

Brady so nearly gave his side the lead inside the opening minute of the second half, as he saw a powerful right-footed effort take a nick off a defender and strike the goalkeeper’s right-hand post.

Troy Parrott then came close on two occasions to opening his account for the club, both times being denied by Ingram, with the second effort being a superb piledriving strike from 25 yards.

Browne was next to come close, as he got on the end of Parrott’s knockdown and had a close-range effort turned behind by Ingram, however, a goal-kick was awarded.

Ben Woodburn came on off the bench and showed incredible skill to beat his man and send a ball over the top with the outside of his boot, to send Parrott through on goal, but again Ingram was there to thwart the striker.

North End kept knocking on the door, however, the goal just didn't arrive for the Lilywhites.

PNE line-up: Woodman; Storey, Lindsay, Hughes; Potts (Fernández, 66), Whiteman, Browne, Johnson (Woodburn, 79), Brady; Parrott, Riis. Subs not used: Cornell, Bauer, McCann, Ledson, O’Neill.

Hull City line-up: Ingram; Jones, Figueiredo, Greaves; Coyle, Seri (Williams, 85), Slater, Sayyadmanesh; Tufan (Cannon, 81), Tetteh (Elder, 59), Estupiñán (Covil, 59). Subs not used: Robson, McLoughlin, Wilks.

    Attendance: 15,816 (1,610 away fans).

    Referee: Mr J Simpson.

Preston boss Ryan Lowe told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"We should have won. The football we played was fantastic. Over 500 passes and more than 20 shots - seven or nine on target - and plenty of deliveries into the box.

"The chances that we missed, I'm confident the lads will put them into the back of the net, once they've found the net once.

"I'm proud of the way the boys are playing. It's all positive, there are no negatives, we're not that far away from a win.

"We haven't lost a game and we haven't conceded a goal. I'm pleased but frustrated."

Hull boss Shota Arveladze told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I'm happy with a point. The first half was quite even but the second half we gave away the ball too easily.

"Our strikers didn't have many chances. We needed some fresh legs upfront. The boys need more minutes and more games and we will work on this to get fit.

Our back three Greaves, Figueiredo and Jones, plus Ingram in goal were all great today."
