Yeah think most had concerns over his lack of football before we signed him, but thought his fitness and ability he could still do a job.
I think if Keane had come in we wouldnt have been promoted - I think it would have ended up in disaster in the way the Defoe deal worked out. Neill turned out to be perfect for us in the end.
Oh I agree. Had many an argument with many parents about this. They wanted nobody else. I never wanted him anywhere near!! If it wasn’t Roy Keane, and I said this at the time, let’s imagine this was a manager who had a season of success with us then did nothing in 12 (at least ) years. There would have been hell on for the club even considering it. Instead there was a clamour for them to get him? Made zero sense
I'd be wary of giving Speakman the credit for signings mind. He isnt doing the scouting or identification or anything. The likes of Stewart, Baath and Pritchard were all LJ picks. We now have the data team more or less up to speed, along with Harvey, so they will have a bigger influence with say Ballard and Hume. This isnt meant to be a dig at Speakman, I just cant see him being involved in player identification much. He will be involved on the contract side, which to be fair we seem much better since he arrived.
Interesting, I don't hear a thing mate. I assumed Keane was first choice. Big mistake pandering to the fans
Everton haven’t included Broadhead and don't even have a striker on the bench. He's got to be on his way.
tried to spot him on the bench as 'one of the other lads' but never noticed him...strange for a lad they want to sign a new contract.
Broadhead deal very near completion apparently just got this text : As far as I know aye, apparently the hold up has been that the permanent players all got a promotion bonus last year where the loan players didn't and his agent wanted that sorted which apparently now deal is nearly done.
I have been told something similar today mate. At least that some bits sorted and will now go ahead. Not sure how he would know, and I am not one to ask for details. Just be good to see the lad back as I think he is a class act and will really complement what we have.
Pretty sure @Prehab26 has said all along that Broadhead would sign once certain things were ironed out in the deal, so people getting told it’s done doesn’t really surprise me.
