No disrespect to these clubs supporters but this game is one of the worst ive ever seen at ALL levels of football, real long ball ,route one zero technical ability stuff by BOTH teams!!

Dont think im getting all high and mighty because im not, both teams will most probably finish well above us in the this league, though i have no real idea why that is when im watching the drivel those teams are producing tonight.

Newcastle can go 3rd tonight if they win! and they just play long ball football ,hit hope stuff really, i like their front 2 players Ba and leon best but i expected better from Newcastle TBH,still what do i know ,the geordies are winning 2-0 as i write!

Stoke, jeez!!! i cant see how their fans put up with it, there are boys playing for them on 70k a week and they look L1 standard at best, woodgate, upson, crouch, pennent all totally average, matt etherington looks their best player,he looks like a footballer,he is far too good for Stoke IMO.

I dont care if we get relegated ,if i was offered the chance to stay in the prem league and be like Stoke or get relegated and play like the swans ,well its championship all the way for me im afraid!!

PS looks like the stoke fans that came on our board are right about pulis, absolutly clueless when they go behind!! ,not sure if i will watch the next 45mins of this Anti-football :)

stoke are a long ball team N.J. thats why we beat them so easily, all you got to do to beat these long ball teams is to keep the ball. peter long legs was out played by the smallest player on the pitch at the liberty..<laugh>

I know they are long ball but ffs they aint even any good at that in this game !! im counting the passes made by each side in this secong half and the highrst so far has been 5 !! we are nearly 20mins into the second half!! fair play to the stoke fans they are giving their support but there must be more than a few fed up with watching that! Newcastle are not much better ,why they are 3rd/4th ive no idea!!

They are 3rd as it stands Norway. Got it on 5live, the good thing is, it'll keep us 10th if it stays as it is!!

Don't think its being "all high and mighty" at all!! Give me our style any day, or maybe little tactical variations thereof, when needs be!! Sometimes it's not, "winning at all costs"!! People sometimes say, there's no 'proper' way to play football, it's whatever get's you results. But I think I'd like to differ from that.

In all farness, Stoke have tried to play more 'football' of late & they're fans have admitted their awful away. But when up against it, you know what they're going to resort to at home too, as in tonight by the sound of it!! It's made them pretty much established though.

They are up there because they have more points than everyone below them <laugh> still listening to the stoke fans on here it seems that stoke play completely different at home as away, it baffles me why they don't go for it away, pulis don't want wins away only draws

Yeh it's never the case that fans say they were 'outplayed' by us. It's always just an off day, or they are just rubbish away from home..... <doh>

I was going to start a thread on the game last night so you beat me to it.

I cannot understand how you can have a go at the Toon who have played some very good stuff this season and the table doesn't lie - it's been effective and entertaining. You mock them in that they have yet to play anyone 'decent' yet but that's not their fault is it? We drew to three very ordinary teams in Sunderland, Wigan and Wolves. We lost to an ordinary team at Carrow Road. <doh>

The Toon are not known as a hoofball team at all ( look at Guttierez's fantastic goal a few weeks back as an example) but as one pundit said last night 'they out-Stoked Stoke'! Very clever tactics by Pardew who got Obertan and Guttierez to reign in their usual attacking instincts and spend most of their time covering back, protecting the two Taylors and stopping the likes of Pennant getting crosses in, hence their unusual reliance on longer balls, though one of their two open play goals was not scored as a result of them. The tactics worked like a charm. Rodgers take note!

But I agree with you, NJ, on your other points. I dislike Stoke intensely. The best league in the world shouldn't have to put up with that type of football. Reducing the dimensions of the pitch to suit their yawn-fest hoofball; the fans cheering like a rugby crowd when they get a throw-in because of Delap. Absolute rubbish. Although Pulis is canny and has got Stoke playing to their limited strengths, I really don't think there is any place for this type of football in the Premiership.

One last point. Fans are thick. It's official. A player wants to come to a club, has a medical but fails it and is turned down by the club so he goes elsewhere on a free. Not his choice really. So what do Stoke fans do? Constantly boo Demba Ba very time he touched the ball. <doh> I was out of my seat cheering when he got his hat trick. What a bunch of tossers.

i mentioned ba as a possible purchase for the swans before the start of the season, wages too high, not good enough or no interest from BR you think?

Yes I did too. Shame we didn't get him. Don't know why, but 'not good enough' can't be right. Turns out he's a hell of a player!
