Tbf Milner came on and was our motm and we looked far more threatening with TAA elliott Salah on the right hand side
Not surprised, he's not played much preseason, new team, new league, against a newly promoted side looking to make a mark.
Two points dropped today, make no mistake, Fulham are nothing special and will struggle later in the season. We gave them the initiative, they rode their luck but we were just not good enough today
I don't know. We were poor first half and Fulham still was stronger in parts of the second half, but at times we did look like we had an extra gear.
VVD didn't look himself today. Not because of the penalty (that never was) but he seemed to struggle with Mitrovic all game
Hard to say. We had several games against smaller teams early in the season last year, and we ended up beating them handily, but not before 60 mins of them looking like strong players... Even Norwich we made look good and they plopped after a few games. We have a habit of starting looking worse than we are.
I agree mate. Just looked off the pace. Matip was getting dispossessed in parts of the pitch which he never usually does.
Won't win the league opening weekend, but to be 2 points behind City from the start is a ****ing awful start to the league
I'll state the obvious - we'll miss Mane this season. Nunez is sound - he finds space and tears defences apart, but he needs to work on his touch. Genuinely quick for a big guy too. All three midfielders were garbage, including Fab. And Trent is not a kid anymore, he's supposed to be the future captain, FFS - just do the simple things simply. Like that kid in school always trying back-heel and nutmegs as if the scouts were watching through the railings. And it was definitely a ****ing pen. You dangle a leg out like Virgil did and any good forward will run into it. Deffo knees clashed, and if that was Nunez at the other end I'd be screaming clear pen. All in all, though I thought we'd go on to win it when we went level at 1-1, I'd have taken 2-2 when they scored that pen. Hope Fulham don't embarrass us now by becoming the whipping boys of the league.
Was nice to have a CF after all these years , even if he looks incredibly raw , knowing that someone will be in the centre of the box was very refreshing . The directive that they were going to allow more contact before it is a foul meant that Fulham could afford to be much more aggressive than in previous years as it was noticeable that in the first half in particular that they were often leaving one on the passing player after the ball was played . We need to realise that while the refs carry on with this policy we need to play quicker and smarter . Shout out to Elliott who was good when he came on and the linkage down that side improved no end . On the penalty fairly sure the was contact best shown on one angle from behind and side however Mitro was looking for it as he knew TAA was getting to the ball first and when down really easy .
Agree I also don’t think you should be permitted to make subs after the 90mins are up Bringing players on at end always slows the game right down
Newly promoted team always tricky. Especislly away from home first season. it’s the worse fixture to Open the season. Everyone expects you to win but they have momentum and home crowd behind them. arsenal got battered against Brentford last season. A nice home game against a mid table team is how you want.
