Others were the ones talking him up as a high quality keeper, thought that meant he was providing depth for this season. Having a third keeper doesn't mean much if you don't think he could actually start if needed.
I do chuckle that people complain about discussions/arguments about transfer news but will happily get involved in off topic rubbish as if that isn't a much worse waste of space. Yes these discussions are back and forth but at least they're relevant.
With the current emergency loan system (eg Ingham to Luton) why would we need three plus two kids who we can recall from loans? Is Baxter’s another finger injury? Reminds me of a few English cricketers (Nasser Hussain was one) who every time they got a blow on their fingers, it was a fracture and a few weeks out.it was a weakness which they could do nothing about. Chelsea didn’t seem that keen to let him go, and presumably would have known about any such weaknesses. So hopefully, just bad luck and he becomes City’s No 1 for many years.
Don’t know why you get grief for using the website for its purpose. Imagine if we all agreed all the time. Boring!
I'm not abusing anyone, I'm not posting off topic rubbish, heaven forbid I offer an opinion on a topic and justify it.
Presumably, Robson goes out on loan. Spurs lad becomes temporary no2 and has chance to solidify that over the season likely featuring at Bradford next week if Baxter isn’t fit and he goes from there. Baxter isn’t ours and this lad clearly has high potential makes a lot of sense to me
Because he said complete bollocks to me earlier like, we shouldn't sign a highly rated young keeper for peanuts when we could loan one instead
You mean I stated an opinion earlier you disagreed with? Knock me down with a feather. We have one fit senior right back, played a striker at left wing back on the weekend, and have no one to compete with Tufan, I was expressing surprise this was a signing of such high profile. That's all. The fanfare suggested he was actually going to be first team this season.
I agree with you, but his points were valid about Cartwright/Baxter I doubt after reading some of your points in return after about the lads potential etc he would decide to persist with saying we shouldn’t sign him. By Syd disagreeing we’ve learnt more about the kid so win win for the board
I think he has potential too by the sounds of it, also prevents outlay on Baxter should he not breakthrough for whatever reason this season. But I agree with you, Baxter is apparently a few weeks away and we have much bigger voids in the squad. Aside from the Oscar chance this weekend we didn’t particularly carve them open much so that still needs to be addressed
We've got the chance to sign a France u19 starter for peanuts, regardless of position, you take it all day long. Baxter isn't ours, if he has a good season, we probably won't be able to keep him and Cartwright is a kid who may or may not be a success. We're hardly stacked there anyway.
It's not a high profile signing though, is it? The lad started training with us and has clearly impressed and seemingly earned himself a 3 year deal. Long term, it might be a fantastic signing, but if it doesn't work out then so be it. It's not like now we've signed him, we're no longer looking for an AM
I don’t know how extensions work but wasn’t Baxter’s one year loan extendable by two years (if the cub decided) .
If he has a good season he'll be ours, we have an option to buy. You mentioned this a few weeks ago but I don't think you understand how an option to buy works. If the player is happy to come, then no one else has a chance to sign him, only us.
If they think Cartwright is too good to be u21s and 3rd choice, so send him out on loan, but they think Robson needs a season in men's football to be a feasible 3rd choice. Then spurs release an u19s stopper with a bit of pedigree they Baz Richardson thinks is worth a punt, then why not?
