Bristol City will be issuing a three-year banning order to a supporter after a flare was set off in the North Stand following Andreas Weimann's goal against Hull City on Saturday, Hull Live understands.

Following Weimann's goal, a smoke canister was released by somebody in the travelling contingent, with that person now set to be banned for the next three years by the Robins, as clubs look to come down hard on those found guilty of breaching ground regulations.

So, was it a flare or a smoke canister?

It was pink and smoky. It was on that video from the away stand that was posted earlier. Presumably not a flare.

At least flares look quite impressive if there's a few of them. The smoke things just look naff

Probably to cover their arse and show they are trying to tackle an imaginary problem ( in Saturday's case )

Baz is doing a really poor job of dealing with the people pulling him up on this article.

Not one single person has said they saw something, which pretty much guarantees that there was nothing to see.

From my perspective in East, when Bristol scored their fans surged towards ours, and it got a bit handbags at the top of North stand where there wasn't much of a gap between them. At one point there was a double line of plod between them. But it was all just shouting and gestures - reminds me of our cat who turns into the Tasmanian devil if he looks through the window and spots another cat in the garden, but if you open the door to let him out to address the offender, he suddenly finds that he has something much better to do, like clean his arse or something.

I'd guess that as this happened right under the security box window, they may have had an exaggerated idea of the actual scale and importance of the event.

Biggest crowd and best atmosphere for a long time, even commented on by our new signing and goal scorer, Seri, but the local rag go with this negative 5hite about anti social behaviour at football. It is scandalous and the club should demand a change of policy from them, not send out the club safety officer to comment and add weight to a non story. He should have told them there is nothing to comment on. Hull Live/HDM have been stirring this particular pot for far too long.
They could quite as easily have reported on the number of youngsters attending football on the back of the clubs very generous pricing policy or even on the back of the England Woman's team winning the Euro's and the rise in popularity in the game, but no chance of that.

I wonder if he's aware that there's a long-standing narrative that the HDM exaggerate trouble at football and downplay it at rugby. If he is aware, he clearly isn't too bothered about pouring more fuel on that particular fire.

I'm assuming he's not aware, or he'd be handling it better, but he really should be.

Some bloke swore near me when they scored - maybe he's referencing that?

I hope, given time and counselling, you recover from this ordeal and feel safe to return to the stadium.
