Rovers face 2 charges relating to the pitch invasion during and after the Scunthorpe match following the referee's Charles Breakspear's report, they have until July 4 to provide a response
The 2 charges are.... 1) the pitch invasion following 7th goal going in on 85 minutes and 2) the pitch invasion following the final whistle. The 1st, I agree with. Investigate and fine the club. It was stupid of those to invade the pitch before the game was actually over. The 2nd charge though, should be dismissed. It's a stupid charge. This happens everywhere up and down the country after the last game so are every club going to get punished?
I think the problem CJS is the number of opposition players that were attacked will lead them to punish the clubs where it happened eg the pitch invasion
Were any attacked at the Mem? if so then that's understandable then. If not then move along if you know what I mean.
Yes I recall hearing that also. Don't know any of the details, but if true in any small part, I would imagine the punishment will be quite severe, seeing there were a number of such incidents.
Don't know what is realistically expected of football clubs to be honest. Whilst I don't condone anyone encroaching onto the playing area, how many stewards will it take to prevent a crowd that are determined enough to enter the playing area from doing it? I suppose arming the stewards with machine guns might deter a few, but I bet the EFL would object on some health and safety nonsense!
Rovers have been fined £16,500-00 for breaching rules E20.1 and E20.2 in the match against Scunthorpe
There were pitch invasions at other grounds, with people attacked around the same time. Are they being fined too?
I thought I read that Everton were being investigated because of the flair thrown by Richarlison back into the crowd rather than being thrown onto the pitch, not heard or read of any others
