Baxter’s injuries are definitely a slight concern. As good as he is, I don’t think he’s much better than Ingram. Sensible business getting him on a loan with a view, cos if he keeps picking up injuries and Cartwright has a good season, it would make sense to just promote Cartwright and save the cash.
Situation is current so yes, with Allahyar having already left, they have 22 (Alioski included - almost finished transfer) players. Well Fenerbahce is unique case, they didn't have a succesful season since 13/14, so since then they keep changing manager and managers are keep changing squad. Every year, 15 players in with 3-5 years of contracts and only selling 1-2 players max, 3-4 runs out of contacts so you end up footballer inflation. So story of this year, general consensus was Fenerbahce has a good squad, they just need a left-back and striker but after they signed up Jorge Jesus as manager and Jesus signed up plenty of Portuguese speaking players, Joao Pedro, Bruma, Henrique, Arao, Lincoln, Peres. They made their first left-back transfer yesterday with Alioski, and still looking for a striker. About reserve league, it has been re-established this year. What Fenerbahce do is basically sign players, then pay their salaries, have a huge pre-season camp and then loan players to another club free and usually they are not young players like Chelsea did, mostly above 28, as my list above suggest. It is a financially dire situation and that's probably why Acun keeps paying good amount for players, because let's be honest Fenerbahce would offload Allahyar and Ozan free, just to get rid of their salary. For Ozan Tufan, scenario was different though, he sided with Ozil against club manager and president and since Ozil brought to Fenerbahce by Acun with sponsorship, Acun kind of owned a favor to Ozan Tufan, so i believe Acun is paying back to both Ozan and Fenerbahce, for the damage he created with Ozil's salary and dent on Ozan's career.
No it was always 14. Limit on the pitch is reduced, not number 14 for general squad. For example Zajc was on loan 2 years ago also. Previous limit introduced by Terim was 14 players in squad, no other limit so you could line up with 11 foreign players and 3 in the bench. That's the highest limit ever given. Last year two more limits added, 8 players in first 11, 12 players in match squad if I remember well.
Well in that case it does seem strange that most clubs seem to have more foreign players than they can play.
Yes went to Teeside Poly but like Hull I have to say Middlesborough is on the doorstep of some lovely country.
please log in to view this image Thursday, 6 June, 2002, 12:12 GMT 13:12 UK BBC Sport Hull land Appleby Hull City have made Kidderminster midfielder Richie Appleby their third signing of the summer. Appleby moves to Hull on a three-year deal and will join up with his new team-mates at the start of July. The 26-year-old had been tracked by Hull manager Jan Molby, who worked with him at Kidderminster, for some time. Hull assistant Gary Barnett said: "Richie will bring a lot of bravery to the side. "He makes others around him play and gets things ticking simply because he demands the ball a lot. "Hopefully we will see the best of Richie at Hull City because he hasn't yet fully reached his potential. "He's looking forward to turning out in front of large crowds week in, week out. "He'll certainly be doing that at Hull City and wants to produce the goods consistently on that kind of stage." Former Motherwell skipper Greg Strong and Newcastle United starlet Stuart Green, who is on a one-season loan, are Hull's other close-season signings. A blast from the past.
There are only 7 teams above limit out of 19 and 3 of them at 15 players, so it is not that much. It is not strange though, I don't want to deep dive into shady parts much since it will be off topic, but lately Adil Rami (former Fenerbahce player around 18-19) claimed that Fenerbahce manager was selecting players who has Turkish agents so that he can get a share. Of course since he could not provide a proof, matter is closed but you can guess what is happening behind for most of the transfers, it is a good way to generate money and may be launder, who knows, most of Turkish clubs are not paying their taxes and their taxes got erased by government periodically after they fail to pay. As a company if you sponsor a club, you can reduce it from taxes like %100. So it is a shady business, things get darker with a few government backed clubs like Basaksehir, Trabzon, but that's an another territory I don't want to discuss here. I will just put some links below: https://www.fanatik.com.tr/fenerbah...sozleri-prim-alamadigi-icin-oynatmadi-2293446
Baxters injury last season lasted what was it 10 games.... In the Injury thread, this injury is reported as an extended period out .... how long before else does something similar... sick note...
So he was fit for 36 games then. He's out for a couple of weeks and he'll probably miss four games, maybe five if you count the cup games, in which time it's not guaranteed anyway he'd start because of Ingram. A Championship quality goalkeeper of his age is an asset, even if he misses a few games through injury.
Sorry to tell you... but if this is right.... On 25 June 2021, he moved on loan to Hull City for the season.[19] Baxter made his league debut on 6 November 2021, in a 2–0 victory over Barnsley at Oakwell and was later selected in the Championship’s team of the week following an impressing showing on his first league start.[20] He went on to make 18 appearances for the club,[21] including 7 clean sheets in his 16 league matches and having the highest save percentage in the Championship at 79.5 percent.[22] Anyway... as you say its moot as he'll have to earn his place and now with another body wanting his number...
