We were best in the first half so I don’t understand why some are saying we need some better players. We played some good passing football and largely prevented them from making much of a challenge.
Second half we dropped back more and allowed them to play. Draw was a fair result but we were still trying until the last minute and regained some of our presence after Roberts came on and gave us more of threat.
Good start for me, we just need to do more of what we did in the first half.

We definitely need strengthening in midfield but going forward we were a threat

If nowt else showed me we have little to fear.

We looked really good at the back, and when we broke sharp we were a menace.

We definitely need a little something CM.

There fans hoying flares into the section below weee folk had young uns was utterly despicable mind, 6 fingered pricks.

won't take anything from coventry, end of the day a draw was the 'right result' but as i said to my son at the time there was a point where they got every decision while we got nowt and that, imho, is when the game really turned.

plenty said about LND being fouled yet one of ours did exactly the same (getting arms in the way but not holding) and he could not wait to blow...as soon as i saw that 'hairstyle' i thought 'here is another who wants to be making it about him'

A good game against a good side. Probably a fair result - Coventry were the better side for the majority, but we had the better chances by far. I think there was a clear step up in terms of intensity - there were a few occasions in the 1st half where one stray pass in midfield led to them being in on goal withing 2 or 3 passes. We acquitted ourselves well, but the lack of mobility/physicality in midfield was stark - when your only option in midfield is Luke O'Nien, it says a lot about our lack of quality.

Just back home from the match, so I have not read the thread so I might be repeating what has been said.

First half , I thought we were very good lots of movement some very good passing and kept a good shape.

At half time AN changed the shape and we went to three central defenders and that seemed to give them more space which exploited and ended up with us being forced back for most of the half. In general I thought we defended well and still looked to a danger when we got forward. I don’t know why we changed our shape at the start of the second half but it did effect us.

As to lessons learnt, in general we have the ability to survive in this league, but we can not give away space 20 to 25 yards out , the quality of the opposition in this league can exploit this as we saw in the first half when they hit the bar and with their goal. If there is an area to improve, it would have to be central midfield, Evans was ok but he did have a tendency to give the ball away cheaply at times and in this league that could be costly

Talking to see me Coventry fans on the walk back into town, they felt that it was a fair result and that our passing in the first half was very good in the first half and better than they normally see at this level.

So all in all happy with the day, but we do need an upgrade in midfield before the end of the window.

100% midfield was the issue today, not sure if it was the mismatch in tactics or what but they looked like they had an extra man on the pitch at times.

Was a bit of both. I wasn't surprised to see their number 8 get subbed. He literally was moving the entire game. Had Evans in knots, only Neil could get close. Just burned out of energy eventually and their subs were really solid.

Minor criticism for the manager today I think Robins won on tactics .. I think Simms needed to be on last 15 mins to give us an out as Stewart had battled all game and needed fresh legs and a bigger presence with him.

I think so. We have some great young players who look comfortable at the level. Cirken was class again today and apart from that stupid turn on edge of box, Neil oozes class.

We definitely need a bit more pace and power through the centre of the park. Evans will cost us and 09 isn't the man either.
