By starting on mediums and pitting same time as those on softs ferrari screwed themselves. They had no choice to go on hards to get to the end!
So this is another case of blind reaction to a verstappen pit stop by ferrari. It's like they were not even looking at what alpine did and didn't have an idea what would happen. Sainz is now in which is a slow stop AND far far too early. There's no way he is anything but off a cliff for last 5 laps. Could Hamilton win this????
They could have done what Sainz/Hamilton have done. Add about 10 seconds to his finishing position and we'll know what was possible for Leclerc.
No, Max will catch him and pass however if he went on softs in another 6 laps he might have a chance for at least second
For me both ferraris are now toast on tyres. They just won't have grip at the end. This is now entirely down to who pushes.most and who can eeek out some tyre life.
It's politics isnt it? It's always politics at ferrari and the Italians dive right into that as a rule.
Absolutely terrible pit stop. Utterly pointless. Just cruise home from where you were. You cannot get 21 seconds back you fools.
