Leif Davis gave another penalty away today on his Ipswich debut.

Exactly what I said, he doesn’t have the personal wealth to guarantee permanent mid table or higher, hardly his fault, but others aren’t exactly biting his hand off to take over and throw money at it.

Can't believe anyone thinks that going down and rebuilding is a good idea, the championship is very hard to get out of.
    We should know!

Exactly. What has it done for even the teams that bounced back like Norwich and Fulham. And look at all the clubs unable to get back. The Sunderland’s , derbys, Ipswich sheffields etc

But then on his positive days he thinks we might finish 17th so it's not all bad <ok>

Having watched the Championship opening weekend today and last night it's obvious that we're now too good for that level. However the problem is we might not be good enough to stay in the PL.

In other words the gulf in class is huge and whilst we've come a long way in the last 3 seasons we desperately need to just keep building and adding quality to the squad year on year before any of us can breathe easily.

The amazingly funny thing is that before a ball was kicked last season many supporters thought we'd cracked it and could kick on and challenge the Top 6.

Maybe if the club had invested in some quality, not forshaw is your new signing , and not sacked Bielsa we could have.

Remember when we tried to buy White from Brighton and they just kept knocking us back even after a £30m bid. They held out and got £50m from Arsenal. Well they have played a great negotiating card with Man City and got the player to put in a transfer request which gives them all the money and now this which is how to play with the big boys
Brighton will not hold any more talks with Manchester City over selling Spain left-back Marc Cucurella, 24, and will only accept an offer of at least £50m.

15 Championship teams have played in the prem this season and thats usually around the number for the last few seasons. I remember looking at it when we trying to get out and saw we were up against between 55% and 62% of the opposition having had parachute payments. For parachute payments to work you need to get promoted again in the first season and second season max or you end up like WBA, Swansea, QPR, Hull and look where Derby are now.

All parachute payments have managed to do is raise transfer fees and wages in the championship which has damaged football as a whole

Papers are full of bollox today and going back to tired old joke stories about Ryan Kent, Traore and now Che Adams ffs. Why would we want to get Che Adams who at best is a back up striker and not a very good one. Our target this season must be overtake Southampton not take their third choice striker ffs

The team we got promoted with that did so well on the first season in the PL they came up as a team, they played as a team, it simply worked.

The players we have signed may never be prem level either, the difference is, if Marsch and Orta have got this wrong we are royally screwed.

If we go down, I can’t see a quick return with the new signings, you can bet after flirting with danger last season they’ll all have relegation release fees

It would probably have more impact than the odd shirt sold for a tenner at the end of season sale :emoticon-0148-yes:

I’m happy with Radz I’ve seen him as a stepping stone but I always said Bielsa and Radz would never get us into the top 6. Bielsa didn’t do “characters” even if they had ability, Radz can’t compete when it come to the investment required. I know he’s had investment from the 49ers but I can’t say I’m impressed with the choice of investor.

On a positive, I feel Jesse has far greater man management skills.

My concern is I don’t believe Jesse has the ability and Radz hasn’t passed us on to someone with those funds. I hope I’m wrong about Jesse and he proves me wrong but there are zero excuses for him now, he’s had a settling in period, he’s had preseason, he’s had his players brought in.

Something doesn’t seem right with the 49ers investment either. Lining up Jesse had the 49ers written all over it, I was convinced this was the season they’d take control.

My biggest concern however is Orta. After our first season back in the PL we were an attractive exciting club to join, we signed James and Firpo who added zero and this season we’ve lost that attractiveness.

We’re relying on these new signings transforming our fortunes compared to last season, we’re relying on Jesse and Orta.
