This... honestly how do people not see this... We are after quality within the FFP bracket... Structured payments are simply to keep within FFP and alow us to keep spending... Look at the Koundre deal... If Chelsea had managed to sneak that deal in without it going public they would have landed him, but Barcelona who were also monitoring him for months and were trying to negotiate a lower price were suddenly alerted to this fact and upped their game for risk of losing out. Its usually the selling club who make it public (this also comes at a risk, piss of the purchasing club who leave and no one actually comes in with a bigger bid) .... Buying clubs don't want their bids or activity to be made public as it alerts other clubs... The fact this had gone public (which will annoy Newcastle) is likely a sign Leicester are willing to sell but want to create a bidding war. Which it seems to me is what we are reluctant to enter. Bidding wars rarely turn out good value for money... We are playing a waiting game... Their are plenty of clubs that need the money we have, but at the moment charging top dollar, as they can.. I belive we are hopping as the transfer window end draws closer, and we have called their bluff by offering money and walking away with no higher bid as they demanded, these clubs will budge realising they might not have a higher bidder and sell.. Its a risk but we shall see. The end of the transfer window is always fascinating as you have two dynamics... Clubs desperately in need of players before the season and clubs desperately needing to sell for cash injections... Eddie by saying he is happy with his squad is putting us in a place where clubs aren't thinking we are desperate so have bargaining power. This Maddison bid was out thr blue as was Bruno and also landing Botman when we had supposedly walked away. Its clear we like doing our buisness outside of the public eye.
Offering that type of cash for James Maddison is laughable. I don't care if people think its some grand chess game or whatever, but there's players all over the place just as good as Maddison that you can sign for around £40M and the bid would be accepted. Leicester are a joke club who had a few good years, they're gonna hold onto these few remaining top, top players like they're ****ing chunks of gold Starting to agree with some others on here, the scouts at Newcastle gotta go.
Which players can you sign for 40Mil that are as good as Maddison (bearing in mind Maddison has proved himself in the Premier league). Maddison is easily worth 40mil and beyond in today's market.
This. It’s the kind of bulllshit we sat through for years with Ashley, stupid bids and the return of “the line”. £40m for Maddison when the same number gets you Paqueta. £30m for Ekitike, same figure gets you Broja. Yet they’re not buying those we could and trying badly with those they can’t. I don’t ****ing get it. It feels like we don’t want to. Or maybe we can’t? Maybe the cupboard is already bare? Something ain’t right.
It's not been very exciting , but I think it's too soon to be critical. See where things are after September 1st. The squad is in shape and ready to go .
It’s just absolutely stupid for any fans to be whining about a transfer window that hasn’t even closed yet.
Board realise fans getting impatient about lack of ambition shown in the window. Then all of a sudden as if by magic a derisory low ball transfer goes for Maddison when we all know the club won’t pay the going rate. Same ****e different day
It is extremely bizarre. I have to admit I am happy with the business we have done. But cannot fathom this current situation. As you say there must be something else. The owners want value for money but sometimes there comes a point when you have to just pay.
I can understand that position but the end of July with 1 month of the window to go is not that point.
They are setting the tone for years to come .. soon selling clubs will stop taking the piss and they'll take the clubs offers .
No that is true and I am not panicking. But I would rather have had the business done before the start of the season. I think that’s all it is really.
There's no rush the signings will be here for more than this season, so I'd rather they got it right or don't bother.
