Citeh over the past decade are in "coin toss" territory
as to whether they win the PL. The Poool have given
them a proper title fight for 3 of the past 4 seasons.

I saw a story earlier (forgot the source, but it was reasonably sound) that stated that we're willing to let Pape Matar Sarr go out on loan this season - but only a loan

They’ve won it 4 times in the last 5 seasons, Kane winning a PL league title with them wouldn’t be impressive at all imo.

Pompey supposedly closing on Scarlett for the season. That’ll be a great move for him I reckon, big club and good fanbase. Danny Cowley doesn’t seem a bad manager either.

They had George Hirst up front on loan from Leicester last season and he did pretty well.
Made 40 appearances and scored 13 goals.
Hirst's a fair bit older than Scarlett at 23, but it might work well for the youngster.

Harvey White did pretty well at Portsmouth when we loaned him there a couple of seasons ago, and on top of that League One is realistically the right level to loan Scarlett out to

We really bungled Troy Parrott's development by loaning him to Millwall a couple of seasons back assuming he could walk into Championship football, when he really needed to learn to walk before he could run

Hugo Guillemet at L'Equipe claim that it's a straight shootout between us and The Sheikh Mansour Team, as he isn't interested in Newcastle or Arsenal

Guillemet is their Lyon correspondent, so worth paying attention to this

There is the argument that he would have been the difference between success and failure in the CL, which after all has eluded The Bald Genius despite his throwing over £1billion at the problem.

However I don't think City's failings in the competition has much at all to do with the competence of their attacking players. It has much more to do with Pep's bizarre tactical tinkering and the fact that their defence hasn't been able to cope with sustained pressure since Kompany left.

It will be Oliver Skipp all over again <laugh>

I must have voted for him at least 5 times despite not watching the games.

Cowley seems really happy with the signing:

“We’re delighted to have Dane with us and we’re really appreciative of Tottenham for trusting us to look after one of their young players.

“He spent the whole of last season with the first team and featured in some of their European fixtures, training every day with world class players.

“He’s a boy who has the world at his feet and comes here after a brilliant summer with England, playing a big part in that success.

“There’s an intelligence beyond his years – both in and out of possession – with the timing of his runs and the movement that allows him to win space behind defenders.

“We think those qualities will carry a real threat and add a different dimension to our team, while against the ball he has an unbelievable work ethic.

“Dane has an infectious energy and I know that the staff at both Tottenham and the England set-up think the world of him.

“This is his first loan and so it won’t be easy because it’s a new experience, but we’re there to support him, like we have done with many young players in the past.

“We’re really looking forward to working with Dane, who’s an outstanding finisher with both feet and his head. He has a ruthlessness that centre-forwards need.”

This is a big and testing move for Scarlett. Cowley is under intense pressure at Portsmouth to deliver, and this will get passed down to the players. Questions will be asked of the boy because it’s a difficult league to play in and there’s some big teams in there. If he keeps his nerve, works hard and if he and the team hit the ground running, then this move should work out well for both parties.

Surprised he was allowed to be loaned out as he was in and around the first team squad

His main involvement was in our disastrous Conference League campaign. Otherwise he managed 27 minutes of first team football last season - 3 in the PL.

It was a badly mismanaged waste brought about largely by our failure to bring in cover for Harry Kane for the second time in three years. I'm delighted he's gone on loan and to a big club in a deceptively tough league.

This was definitely the right season for Scarlett to head out.

Arguments could've been made for last year but I think in hindsight it was good to keep him around. Sending a 17 year old kid to the football league likely would've ended badly.

He's now a young man at 18, bulked up, grown up, learnt more from Kane and Son, has worked under Conte and Jose (lets not talk about Nuno) in the last 18 months and received high praise from both, just had a fantastic summer with England U19s and now needs to make his first proper steps in the men's game.

I don't expect him to hit 30 goals and lead Pompey to promotion but if he can have a season anywhere near like Parrott's where he gets significant game time and chips in with some goals/ assists, it'll do wonders for him. Can then reassess next summer if he's ready for a loan to the Championship.

Hopefully we sort Devine out with one soon too.

    Having Parrott ar
A loan to a league one side is perfect for him right now.

He wouldn’t get any first team football at Spurs this coming season.
