They can easily lose a few and finish comfortably above relegation zone .After all Leicester have at least 7 players that other clubs would be interested in where as Everton have Gordon & DCL though the 2 new FB's look promising at least from an attacking pov.

My quick summation of the Leicester implosion.

    1. B.Rod. hasn't a good record of defensive capability.

    2. Results. they have actually been a midtable side for a good proportion of their prem stay. one very very unique season to win it. great. then two midtable 2 htting 5th and then a slump last season back to 8th and only cost everyone else dropped back and they came form very much lower half with less games to play and snuck up to 8th they were only a couple results away from 12th like....

    3. squad:
Schmeichel going. danny ward not seen as good enough.
Soyuncu disasterous, evans aged, vestergarrd very average. Full backs are the brighter note.
Teilmans going if anyone bothers to bid. is quite a mixed bag o players and a little unbalanced for me. A classic "likes an Attacking midfielder" type squad
vardy will be 36 in january. The rest of the "strikers" are a mixed bag. nothing really to replace vardy thats for sure.

    4. contracts
Leicester are looking at losing vardy, teilemans, schmeichel, soyuncu, perez, mendy, choudry, evans at the end of this season if not osld before and Ndidi, maddison and Praet are actively running theirs down.

    5. The table never lies
My impression here is if they cannot strengthen then they can be looking at another season like Ranieri had . he left with 13 games to go and only 1 point off relegation after winning the title and was dispatched.

    Last season
screen shot grabbed off internet. Feb 2022 (remember that big win we had :))

Leicester on 27 points after 23 games. 7 off burnely.

they don't need to do much worse to be in big trouble.

These reasons are why i have a feeling that a lot of guys might not be as committed as they need to be in the dressing room and that rodgers is not really the sort to drag them through. I could see it being a spiral and a sacking 100%

While i can easily see BR being binned before end of season if only because he as so often before has given a hostage to fortune with his big renewal comments re this season which won't have improved morale in the camp however they have enough decent players to finish comfortably above relegation zone .

they should really for sure <ok> i just think there'll be a change there.

Compared to other sides they have no excuse currently to be near the bottom as you say.

Slightly weird atm as some clubs seem to be spending money like it's going out of fashion while lots of others seem to have very little money to spend either because they just don't have it or due to ffp constraints .

Liverpool have reportedly walked away from a deal for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams after learning his release clause is higher than their planned offer.

it is really had to know cos a lot of clubs are out of sync with each other.

    for exmaple:

Everton have not a pot to piss in as they spent loads on players and started a stadium and then had a covid impact that couldn't be hiddne.

West ham seem really ****ing tight. don't know if thats just them being cheapskates or what but they really really seem on a tight margin even though they were handed 60k stadium in london for free (in effect)

Forest seem to be spunking a shed load.

Leeds spent 97mil but got 97mil in.

City oddly are selling and not buying which seems kind off odd.

Chelsea seem clean slate and no debt but owner doesn't seem o have changed any attitudes so they think they have unlimited funds (but players are turning them down all of a sudden which suggests a lot of dodgy deals were being done behind the scenes in RA time)

Arsenal are hell for leather. another 120mil and no problems actually resolved (soft at the back and in the middle)

    villa are tight

bournemouth are VERY tight indeed. (paying for mistakes of past i think)

Leicester are constrained for sure. Again what did the y spend on wages and fees recently, what was covid impact.

We are on a very low net spend but handing out big wages. we seem unwilling to really push the boat out but are not penny pinching.

spurs are massively in debt but spunking 100mil due to CL qualification.

wolves are fairly tight as well.

the one club I'm actually shocked about is newcastle. Botman, pope and targett is not exactly the richest club in the world kind of spend is it?

I get the impression a flurry of activity is going to come late in the window.

Villa spent a lot last season and have bought Coutinho and aren't City 2 in 2 out at present. The Wolves one is interesting as i think they could struggle badly this season unless Jiminez and Neto get over the respective injuries and refind their form of a couple of years ago .
Everton probably still need PL approval for any signings as part of the quid pro quo for not sanctioning them for breaking FFP .
Spurs owners ENIC issued shares to generate a £150m of cash and although they have a large debt much of it is reputedly on fixed interest rates and the stadium generates lots of dosh.

I don’t think they will be anywhere near the relegation zone, but I do agree with some of what Mito wrote. I think last seasons 8th flattered them a bit. They had a number of games at the end of the season due to COVID which were played again teams that had little else to play for. If more was at stake, that 8th could have been 12th.

The Newkie lot seem to think that the PL are delaying things because they aren’t letting sponsorship deals go through which means Newcastle can’t spend as much due to ffp.

The arsenal one is interesting. Arteta has spent a crap load of money the last 3 years. He has to be getting top 4 this season imo as he’s spent too much money to not get it.

Not entirely sure how they are affording it given they’ve barely sold anyone either.

Be interesting how long they can keep spending that money without the CL or if in a year or two they suddenly have to shift some big names to fund things.

    20/21 - net spend 60m
    21/22 - net spend 122m
    22/23 - net spend 106m

Agree you won't be near relegation zone. Even if you were, Fulham, Forest & Everton will be much worse!

Lets be honest if Klopp had spent that (or what ManU or City) had spent, Liverpool and Klopp would be accused of all sorts of stuff.

    From the Beeb gossip column

"A deal for Liverpool's Brazil forward Roberto Firmino is reportedly "very close" with the 30-year-old set for a move to Serie A side Juventus. (Corriere dello Sport - In Italian)"

    Why?
You are obviously in the process of changing your game slightly and Firmino may now just be surplus to requirements in the new system.
