When I say the dirty six created I mean they asked the PL to STOP our takeover. Then to STOP commercial deals. Then created the ESL league to STOP the little clubs getting money. The Liverpool owners wanted it all.
And don't forget their Project Big Picture plans, another great idea from Fenway Sports Group. https://www.skysports.com/football/...o-know-about-premier-league-shake-up-proposal
Emm, all I mentioned was his wages, suggesting he was going nowhere. Maybe, your short-term memory is going off piste again.
I'm many things, but not an idiot. If Wood was instrumental in last seasons charge to survival, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. He did a bare minimum job - bit of chasing, won a couple of headers, worked hard - but we're now stuck with a striker that cannot hold it up, cannot score, has no positional senses and contributes nothing on £100k per week. £5m a year for this ****ing sack of ****e. And nobody will ever convince, nor prove, that he was the reason we finished mid table. And Burnley went down partly because of him being so bad, not because he then left. Final point - it wasn't Burnley or us, was it? If Burnley hadn't gone down, it would've been one of the other teams who finished well below us. In almost every respect, Wood has been a monumental waste of money, salary and a squad place. He's basically Dwight Gayle mk.2. Whoever went with that purchase - and by every known account it's Steve Nickson - should have been sacked. I think Nickson has already been demoted, he's not chief scout any more, and I reckon Nickson will be out of the club by October.
Imo they learned yesterday that they need another cm. Anderson and Longstaff were not up to it and jonjo will be injured. They know they need Bruno and Joe fit or they'll have big problems.
Fulham have signed Mbabu, he’s a player I wish we’d kept. That Bondswell had a decent game last night, very similar.
I think we've wasted a lot of the Summer believing this squad would replicate its' top-3 form into this new season. Spent forever chasing a £30m prospect who went to PSG, which tells me the management team at Newcastle didn't feel there was a pressing need to add a first team player. Really worrying, when you think about. Reality has hit during these friendlies whereby our lack of quality past (maybe even IN) the first XI isn't good enough. I think it's all going to hit home quickly that they're not good enough. We already know the likes of Ritchie, Murphy, Wood and Mongstaff should be nowhere near the team, but..... Almiron - 3 seasons of not hitting a cows arse with a banjo (2 goals, 0 assists), then he has a decent pre-season and suddenly he's the answer? Shelvey - plays 1 decent game in 6, inconsistent, Hollywood passer. Loses a few pounds and he's now a midfield dynamo? Burn - utility defender that couldn't start for Brighton, has a few committed matches and all of a sudden he's solved the defensive issues? Wilson - injured for 50% of the last 2 or 3 seasons, all of a sudden he's our best possible option at CF and going to bag 20? Lascelles - whose absence from the first team has always coincided with better results re-named captain and now our first choice CB? ASM, Targett and Longstaff have all been quite poor in pre-season as well. My optimism for the coming season has been drained this Summer, which is all the more disappointing given the optimism we were all supposed to be feeling.
If Eddie Howe and Dan Ashworth etc believe this team is good enough based on last season then these are the decisions they live and die by, personally I think they would be wrong in believing that but it's not my job on the line!
Ok so we have got a credit facility with HSBC signed off in exchange for all 22/23 TV rights money up front. That means the three payments the PL usually make - September, February and June - can now be treated as 'in the bank' already which effectively gives us £150m+ to spend, effective immediately. Now given this kind of money and loan facility is effectively what Forest have used to bankroll a load of players, could this be why we haven't done more in the market so far? Is this the catalyst to finally see some movement in critical positions? There's nothing the PL can do about that. I'm with @Geordieginola on this - I think the PL have made it very ****ing difficult all Summer for us to get deals over the line and so we've looked at another way of doing it and there's **** ALL THEY CAN DO ABOUT A CREDIT FACILITY! Petty ****ing ****ers. Christ, I hate the PL. Going to destroy my love for football one day, I'm convinced of it.
Last 19 games with out the addition of Botman Won 12 Drew 2 Lost 5 (Chelsea, Everton, Spurs, City, Liverpool) Bear in mind also Bruno only started 11, Trippier 3, Wilson 2 of those 19 games - so I have faith in the squad and more importantly the coaches to, maybe not replicate that form but start better than we did last season and put us in a decent position. 57 points for Europe last season and we got 38 in 19 games.
No he wasn't and you're talking **** once again. Double figures in the Prem 4 seasons in a row in a struggling team is a very good return. Just bash one out over Wood and get rid of all that pent up sexual tension.
It's a very clever move and, as you say, it nullifies the PL presence. They have most definitely been interfering in our dealings and made it difficult. This might move things along and we will see some proper action. Darren Eales will hopefully kick ass by January so any further investment can be done then/summer. Now the good times will come!
I think we might see movement now. There's literally NO point in arranging this if the intention isn't to spend all of it. We could, I suppose, hold some back until January as well, but as you say by then we should have removed some blockers from our commercial plans and be able to spend on a couple more if needed with additional funding (stadium advertising, new shirt sponsor). For now, I'd be really surprised if we didn't bring in 2 or 3 big players.
