Said he expects 1 or 2 being close by Sunday but we still need loads of work before window shuts. Seems annoyed by how slow and frustrating this window has shaped up so far.
Hate the transfer window. Should either scrap it or close it before the season starts. Every season, there seems to be more deals done later and later, not just at Sunderland. Feels like clubs just write off the first few games of a season now, accepting they won’t have a finalised team.
Aye that's the **** thing now we have to maybe sacrifice 3 or 4 games to get better talent in. Ruins momentum totally
I mean he starts the interview with a exhale of air that sound like he is a bit sick but hopefully he will get his men the next month
Neil will want them in as soon as possible, as does everyone, but he knows how it works and it's the same every year, it starts with the Premier league and works its way down the pyramid. Foe example we will have players we probably want rid of but we won't let them go till we have a replacement, we can't get a replacement till the club we are buying or loaning from has a replacement. Hopefully the players we are after are of the calibre that other clubs will be interested in which also delays things , not many championship clubs have really strengthened. It will be the same for us all and it will never change unfortunately, a lot of business will be done in the last few weeks of the window. This will never change so unless they start and close the window before the season starts we will have this every year
Agree with this - seems to be the way with how we do our business these days and are often shopping in a different aisle to others in the same division and that takes time. Having said that, there hasn't been a huge amount of business done in the Championship thus far
Agree, ideally the window should close before the start of the season. Problem is that would mean uniformity across the different leagues....something they'll never get. It is something that's clearly bothering Alex Neil,in that he's stated more than once that he doesn't want to give other clubs a head start because he doesn't have his full squad assembled. Can't see it being any other way at the minute though.
If you have a quick scan, of forums, supporters of every club from Man City to Mansfield are saying 'we need three more players and time's running out' ... ... same every year and it'll never change. Ipswich signed loads and got nowhere.
Agree it'll never change. It isn't about signing loads though...it's about bringing the squad together before the first match, rather than having to go through the first 5 or 6 matches without the balance.
Think someone like Matt Godden would be a good back up striker. Plenty of experience, good at coming off a bench and making an immediate impact.
