I'd like to point out the lad with the mag flag got put on his arse 3 times after the game by a young lad. A joy to see.
Of course you are right, pre-season games could make you over/ confident ( ie Coventry i hope). It's really about getting match fit.. BUT, for us it has also shown we have a paucity of strikers. Albeit that the young lad tonight was okay ( hardly troubled) but we need a back-up keeper.
Aye there’s no question we are a bit short mate, but we looking to buy from above so was always gonna run deep into the window. Seeing a few meltdowns and there’s no need for me, I’m content with where we are with a hint of caution. For me, the fact Parrot has gone Preston tells me the clubs told him another striker or 2 is in way in. He wouldn’t go Preston over Sunderland, and if was just him and LND he’d have been confident of minutes. I’ll panic on deadline day if needs be, but I don’t think I’ll need to.
i was convinced this game was later in the week for some reason (note to self, always check days and times) so i missed my final fix afore the real stuff starts. sounds like a decent work out but also, once again, showed how weak the squad is in general...first team should be fine but if we suffer a few injuries at the same time i am not so sure of the 'back ups'. dont want to join the barmy brigade but we really do need to see some additions to boost the moral and make sure we have all positions covered, i honestly could not take another square pegs season.
One thing to take from these preseason friendlies is how impressive Hume has been, surely has to start the season as our first choice RB.
Talent-wise, Hume looks excellent. He is very inexperienced though so I bet that Neil is in two minds whether to start him.
