What does it matter now, they’re going to have to get up to speed with how we play, or how we’d play with this DM, which in turn means every other player has to get used to this new set up.
Plus gel together & fitness levels, as I assume they won’t have had a pre season.
I’m hoping this pre season has been a bluff & next week, we come out like the team we expect, with all these signings.
Although I’m not convinced, I’ve already got other plans for next weekend, so hopefully when I check the scores at 4:45, we’ve had a great start!

Wasn’t there some suggestion he wished to do this at the team he was involved in before?

Its what every owner wants to do. Always has been what's the point in spunking the cash to buy a football club otherwise?

If I bought a football club in England, and I owned a Tv station in say, Turkey, and I knew and were friends with many football players in Turkey, would I try to buy them, knowing they were good players, **** yeah,
Most managers don’t have a say in players incoming, Peter Taylor resisted Dean Windass coming back, as soon as he ****ed off, in he came, we got promoted to the Premier League, it may happen this season, prob next but I can wait.

I did intend to fact check this. Wolves away as one of the first games after relegation was the one I remember as him being an absolute **** show and I don’t recall him making an appearance after.

I do think he was massively overrated anyway but did somehow manage to come up with the goods. Never seen such an unorthodox football player in my life. He had such poor technical ability his first touch could end up anywhere between here and Canada and his second touch was likely to end up in the middle of Russia.

In a friendly you have to actually.. I dunno.. practice what you want to do during the season, otherwise the players may as well just do laps around the MKM if it's purely for fitness. You don't need to measure pre-season on number of wins and losses, but structural things like chances created, shots, goals, etc. demonstrate how the side is working together, how effective the game style is, and things like that.

This was my concern when we first heard him zipping around negotiating on deals personally. Felt out of step with how the club should be operating, with the manager or head of recruitment doing that, Acun providing the funds. Would be quite rare to have an owner who is involved in that. I think Boehly is at Chelsea somewhat and is being criticised for doing so.

Wolves was the one where he missed the pen or something wasn't it? I remember some issue with him and us winning a pen. Or maybe Akpom took it and he threw a strop.

That all rings a bell, I’m not sure. I just remember coming away from that game pissed off with him for some reason. I was gonna say Bowen equalised for a 1-1 but I think that was Villa?

That was a different season, 1-1 under Slutsky after our Silva relegation. Jelavic strop with Wolves was under Bruce. We'd won 2-0 at Hudd with Akpom up top, then Jelavic started the following against Wolves. Not sure where Charlton fits in as I don't remember that game.

If Seri, Slater, and Docherty is the best midfield we have then we are in deep trouble. The sale of Honeyman has destroyed the energy and creativity of this team and no amount of high profile strikers will be able to compensate.

So Milwall should win the league then.

And Seri, Slater, Doc is unlikely to be our best midfield when everyone's fit and the window is done.
    Let's just see.

That's not even remotely in the same ball park as saying that it's a shame Honeyman is gone. I'm not sure why you need to apply such a silly extreme to any discussion around Honeyman. He can be a tidy and useful player to retain and not the best player in the league. The two statements can be true. Particularly over the first month or two of the season as our foreign legion settle in having some consistency and depth in the squad would have been extremely valuable, but clearly not valuable enough to try to entice him to stay.

Funnily enough a few Championship podcasts I listen to (The Second Tier for instance) believe Milwall's squad should see them placed well as a dark horse for promotion this season so clearly some people do think their recruitment has been good.

Direct response to someone else. Saying best player in the league. He isn't.

And its pre season. Mid window. Let's not get ahead of writing 30k a week players off just yet.

Could you please point out where CANADATIGER said Honeyman was the best player in the league? :)

He didn't, so you conflating his comment that we've sapped creativity from our midfield as losing the best player in the league is daft.

No one has done this either. The entire point CT is making is the same many of us have made about the drastic turnover in the squad that we now lack any consistency heading into the season that would have been valuable. That's all. Not writing off the new players, just bemoaning the time it will take to get up to speed now.

Someone said it. And I can quote '' no amount of high profile strikers will compensate'.

That's bollocks. One of ours gets 4 goals and 3 assists or whatever. They've compensated.

But if you need to claim your win in pre season then you can't be too confident you'll be right in the long term.

That is not saying what you think it does. You tend to misread posts and go on tangents from there.

Having a bunch of strikers doesn't help if you don't have someone to create chances for them. That was what he meant.

Says the person who has to weigh in as soon as anyone mentions Honeyman. And then misrepresent what they're saying in order to try to discredit them. Move on mate.

Better than 19th, transfer policy is justified.
