To be fair, there was nothing to be positive about from that performance. The only thing I would say is that Kakay did ok but was being exposed with 2 on him at times. I think it was probably Dozzel who should have been giving him some protection
But it's been going on for ever Col ffs, last season was particularly bad for just hacking off oppo players and letting them shoot from the edge of our box. Too slow to get out to their players who are about to shoot from the same range. Nothing looks like it's been done to change this which is depressing as we conceded so many goals like this last few seasons. Yes they're only friendlies but we still conceded 9 goals in them to weak teams, Palace had 3 of their main players playing. Nothing will change if we don't change the way we defend, Dunne probably really should be starting and we need a proper right back. No idea why he didn't give Armstrong at least 45 mins as Dykes offered absolutely nothing, give the kid a chance ffs. Striker and wing backs were the areas that desperately needed addressing, and we've brought in Paal that's it, who looks decent. We could have a helluva lot of sick notes in midfield again if Amos, Roberts and Co stay as brittle as they look right now. Putting a helluva lot of pressure on Willock who's had no pre season and Chair. I'll be positive I promise as soon as we stop making the same mistakes over and over again, some ****er must surely be doing some defensive training !
Did you watch it ? There's positivity and then there's delusional. Who do you expect us to score the goals we need ?
Well I think it’s a ****ing disgrace that we lost to a PL team with probably five individual players worth more than our entire squad. Prepare for relegation. And the sky falling on our heads.
Beale said, post game that we have no injuries going into the Blackburn game and pointed out that we didn't have most of our best attacking players. We need to be at least 10 games into a championship season before we know what's what imo.
I'm surprised that Dunne isn't starting the games but instead usually coming on in a weakened 2nd half team. In my opinion, he was our player of the season last time round. I really don't see the point in Armstrong getting 6 minutes.
But this game meant nothing, let's see how it pans out over the coming season. I really don't have any expectations above mid-table this season. I'm certainly not going to get carried away thinking about promotion.
No one likes to lose but it was a warm up match, didn't think we were that bad, Johansen looked fitter, kakay our best player I thought...Ill give the management a couple more weeks anyway
So what do you think Beale should do with our defending Hammersmith, apart from a new RB, then? How would you fit Dunne in? Would you go back to a back 3/5 like Warburton did 2nd half of the 20/21 season, adding Dunne into the centre of a 3 with Dickie and Clarke maybe? Seems like we only have 2 or 3 wing backs at the moment so maybe hard to do that every game. Is Masterson going on a loan or is he our back-up DCM? Or would you keep with a 4 and have Dunne in to replace Dickie or Clarke? I've only seen short highlights of these pre-season games on the Official mostly, of poor quality where you cannot even see the players faces to know for sure who they are, from Recast I suspect, so I have no idea. I have read many say Clarke has taken over Barbet's role including organising the defence, and has been ok. We looked porous at the back to me from what I've seen, even at Wealdstone. Not seen anything from today but read reports making Kakay our best player. Did both Johansen and Field play DCM mostly, with Dozzell further forward. Or do we we play with DCM's at all? If not maybe that's why we aren't stopping players running to the edge of our box?
He said they would all be available for Blackburn, including Willock. Obviously, he won't have match fitness, but maybe he'll get a few minutes?
