Not overly keen on it tbh, there are sports and cases to make in different ways.

Rugby allowed destruction of particularly French colonies and Eastern Europe with a 3 year to play for country and even nz was being poached.

That is now 5 years and imo that's still a little iffy.

I would be of similar mind on your options.

Athletics is ridiculous with the amount of people poached but in the end it is money and not just people who won't get a run otherwise.

Some African nations in some distances basically can name 10 people for a final probably but the poaching goes for the top man.

Who was the 800m champion for DENMARK, Oh yeah the Kenyan kipketer. It was great watching him running right up til he pulled the Danish flag out. At that time he was offered university there so you have to wonder

Whilst I wont say Norrie picked GB because of the better financial and facilities at the very least he has a connection with his parents being from Britain.

And while Rybakina may not have achieve success she was still was paid to switch nations. Kazakhstan pretty much bought her.
My objection is any sports person being paid to switch without any connection to the country they are changing to.
And also changing once you competed for the Home country for no good reason, which is probably more of an athletics problem than any other.

Wilson Kipketer applied for Danish citizenship when he was 18. He wasn't forced to. He has a Danish wife who he married in 2000. He still is a Danish citizen even though he retired years ago. Once Jeruto's career is over I expect her to renounce her Kazakh citizenship, same for Rybakina to be honest. As for Jeruto winning for another country she isn't the first and won't be the last.

Big respect to Vingegaard for yesterdays stage and waiting for Tadej.
Vingegaard has responded to every Pogacar attack and eventually broke him yesterday.
He should go on to win it now,and deservedly so <applause>

Sydney McLaughlin showing she’s operating on a different plane of existence to everyone else as she broke her world 400m Hurdles record and went below 51 seconds. Her time of 50.68 is equal to the 20th fastest time this year run by a woman over the 400m flat and would have placed her 7th in the 400m flat final run 30 mins previous to her race

    Have to wonder though.

    Have to wonder.

That's the sport today, instant anyone improves like that you have to think they are up to no good.

I know she's young but still.

She’s been very good from a young age from high school.

I asked Michael Johnson on twitter regarding Usain Bolt and Noah Lyles after Lyles broken Johnson’s 200m time by 1/100th of a second to win gold. Johnson said he felt Noah could break Bolt’s world record. I asked him why and he said one of the reasons was Bolt had mild scoliosis, technically very inefficient and also he never pushed himself. Whereas, he said Noah is far more efficient and has Knighton to push him. He said if Bolt had bothered enough and was more efficient he felt he would have run sub 19.

the one sprinter I felt suspicious of was Jacobs when he won Tokyo. Only just managed to break 10 seconds a month or so earlier and then improves by nearly 2/10ths and then doesn’t race again that season.

Biggest sporting event of the weekend. Season 5 of King of the Mountain comes to a close. Can't believe it's the last ever race on this track. All those drivers who lost their life on the mountain and it's being torn down for a new track.

    Bizarre goings on at Alpine.

Alonso leaves for Aston Martin next season, catching them by surprise.

They say they're not sure if Piastri will replace him, despite contract.

Then they say he will, but without quote from Piastri.

    Piastri then says he won't...

Can only assume the earlier announcement from Alpine was for contractual/compensation reasons.

They've been caught sleepwalking and as Renault always does, the minute there is cost saving needed the f1 team is first to go.

Imo they have reduced spend and interest again and have been napping.
