Do you mean a striker with EPL experience who is an upgrade on Adams? I don’t see it happening simply because we cannot afford such a player. And there probably aren’t many who are available. I can’t think of many that fit within our fee and wage structure
I do think we need someone with more experience but we'll need to look abroad because like you say, PL strikers will cost a fortune. The Stuttgart striker would be ideal but not convinced we'll get him.
Adams is okay, but blows hot and cold too often, which will likely put more pressure on the new kid. It’s a shame that Ings left because this guy sounds like he could be the perfect foil for him, especially when you remember the way Ings would drop deep and look to feed the ball between the defenders. As Tom says, maybe we will have to look abroad, but I am just wondering if there is someone filling a squad place, somewhere, who might like a change of scenery.
He has been linked with Bayern and Man United so all want to ensure those options are off the table which will take some time. Especially with Ronaldo sulking around in the background and far from guaranteed to be able to leave
Someone on Saintsweb put up quite a good run down of other teams struggling with strikers https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/topic/59176-summer-2022-transfer-window/?do=findComment&comment=3050240 That is 8 teams not counting us or the promoted ones or us. Doesn’t leave many. Who even arguably have enough striker options let alone someone taking up a squad place. City have shipped out their spares as have liverpool (origi). Spurs have never had proper backup for Kane and Chelsea don’t have many strikers either and we couldn’t afford their wages anyway. Arsenal were also so short they extended Nketiah. I’m struggling with who that leaves left over (club wise). Leicester and Palace and I think one other. I don’t think they have experienced PL strikers who are on reasonable wages, who would want to leave and who they would want to sell I haven’t combed through all the squads though so there might be someone there. But they are rare
Apparently Leicester have put Iheanacho on the market as they need to sell before they can buy apparently. So he could be a possible option.
I don't think our star signing will be arriving in a training jet from Boscombe Down (G-ETPB) , but keep on watching the skies, something might turn up. Saints came back last evening in to Hurn again, the aircraft they used (EC-MNQ) couldn't manage the runway at Eastleigh.
The Veracity Recreation Ground? They're just showing him where he'll be playing if he doesn't score enough goals.
would love him here tbh. No idea why he isn’t given game time at Leicester. (Well other than Vardy being class)
Wonder if Joe Shields has had much to do with Iheanacho in the past, at City? Could be an influence if we were interested.
He was signed when Shields was a youth scout so he could have been involved. I'd expect his fee and wages would be a problem. Rumoured 90k a week wages. So he would potentially become top earner (or equal) to move here. I'm not convinced we will do that
I think JWP is on close to £150k so he would be some way off that. I may be recalling that figure incorrectly though.
Maybe he is, I cant even remember why I think it was £150k, maybe that was what we offered Ings to become our top earner?
