Whatever. I'm guessing the fate of Derby will loom large in the wing mirrors of a lot of clubs in transfer and contract dealings with the mantra....."chasing the Premier league dream can be harazardous to one's financial stability"....ringing in their ears. Like.
This. He sounds bitter to me. End if the day, looking upwards, he is not the player that will help us meet that goal.
Rumour from last night is Pelkas is between us and Panathanaikos... Apparently Acun is trying to get a package deal where we get Pelkas and Lemos (CB) Probably rubbish...
Gonna be such a good season for once to look forward to with expectations higher than what we was accustomed to, so many good players to watch and everyone trying to figure out who their fav player will be. Don't think many other teams are going to be able to work out how we will play or who will play which is good previously it was not hard for any coach to work out what we did in fact they probably did not have to do much homework as we was so limited.
Thanks for the explanation, which makes more sense now. I wouldn't have thought the sponsorship money was enough to pay for the club, but it might be that the loan was for part of what was needed to buy the club, and he may have had part of the money from his own side. It certainly doesn't sound shady at all to me, like all stories, maybe there is an element of truth in it, but I can't imagine an ex player being privy to the financial details of something probably only Acun and his closest associates know the actual details of.
I think the meeting with the EFI over the fair play rules is to avoid a Reading rather than a Derby. If you're in a promotion chase the last thing you want is a points deduction. Either this season, next season or the season after. Both the Allams and Barlett incurred losses to fund promotion campaigns so I don't really see any reason for the current owners to be any different. We'll see over the next few years how deep Acun's pockets are and whether he's an Allam or a Bartlett.
Arguably expectations will be too high. This is pretty much a brand new team that has never played with each other before. It's going to take time for them to gel and I can just see our fickle fan base turning on them before they've been given fair opportunity for that to happen.
I think most will be grounded on expectations this season, it's the people above who will expect more this season than the fans . Don't think the owners will settle for a top half at all, they want it this season without a doubt they just not telling the fans that.
I’m sure there’s ways around it…all the other clubs seem to be doing it. We need to start playing a bit dirty too
Smallwood was another player who probably did enough to earn an extra year. Second player who has come out and bad-mouthed a club a little bit after leaving this summer.
Strange thing is, I could’ve swore someone on here said the club wanted to keep Smallwood for an extra year but he wanted a longer commitment for his future so we didn’t trigger the extra year and parted ways. Or was that Eaves?
Well they are not here now so really does not matter what they say, the players that are here seem happy enough and not heard them complain.
