So two PL tried and tested players for less than you paid for a player who has never been tested against the pace and power of most PL teams? sounds like good business to me.
You got tried and tested maguire for 80m.. doesn’t mean was good value? chris wood was tried and tested, cost £25m. That good business compared to Aguero who cost city 30m? Your point about Nunez is totally irrelevant because he hasn’t even played a game yet? but anyway… A LB that couldn’t get into city team ahead of s rb that they shoved out on the left. He’s an ok player, hard to tell how good a defender he is given didn’t play much and when he does it’s generally always on front foot with the ball. £32m is a lot on that though, especially when you’ve already brought 2 left backs in the last 2 seasons. And a CF that couldn’t get into the team despite city having no striker for a season… again decent player, prob not ‘worth’ £45m given his limited playing time. Arteta has to deliver this season. £87m spent this summer. £150m spent last summer. 77m the one before. Would imagine prob spent most money in league since he joined arsenal. Can’t say his track record with money spent on those players is all that great either.
Man Utd have become a retirement home for players approaching the twilight years of their careers and are after that final bumper pay packet.
surely not? I thought with tin hat in and all this fabulous performance by martial in preseason utd were bound to win no 21.
clearly By definition and over priced player who've stunk up the prem and got a move to another prem club; like Grealish, Maguire et al. All are tried and tested (results don't matter, just that they were tested) and obviously by the standards at Utd all represent good value. the yard stcik for value i believe is Pogba here. the free transfer that cost 85 mil or something. Its crystal clear only a LUNATIC would by an untired and untested player out of a foreign league. this does beg the question of how many lunatics run premier league clubs.
Even their darling Ronaldo has realised what a mess the club is after 1 season and is trying to jump ship!
oh yeahhhhh! another club performing superbly. More clubs need to follow utd and everton's example. this buying of young talent is for the birds.
You need a competent manager with a vision in order to make a team click and tick. Klopp doesn't appear to be interested in big names for the sake of it and our fans certainly don't demand it. It will be I interesting to see how Arsenal do with their tried and tested purchases. I think Jesus has scored a shed load in preseason.
In terms of managers, yes it is. Look at the list of Everton managers who have bought big name only to fail. OGS getting Ronaldo etc
tbh i'm not convinced Ole had anything to do with the Ronaldo signing felt more like a Woodward idea.
You may be right, I don't pay much attention to them. I used the word competent earlier because from my way of looking at signings, it isn't about getting a big name but more how the manager sees the player fitting his system and how it will improve the team overall. This requires competence and vision.
