Good Morning. It's Tuesday 19th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Adamu emerges as cheaper option up front Junior Adamu is the latest in a long line of forwards, linked to a Summer move to Elland Road. Adamu, 21, was born in Kano, Nigeria, but has represented Austria at Youth and Senior level, his one cap coming against Israel last November. He bagged nine goals from 43 appearances for RB Saltsburg last season. Several Premier League clubs have shown an interest in Adamu, but have yet to back up their interest with an offer. Given his inexperience, a £12m price tag seems fair. It's certainly a more affordable option than Martin Terrier. Rennes have slapped a £34m price tag on their former French U21 star after netting 21 times last season. West Ham and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the 25yo. please log in to view this image Does Bamford have a future at Elland Road? It's fair to say that Patrick Bamford had a season to forget last term. He was dogged with various injuries to both his hamstring and ankle, and then, to make matters worse, his plantar fascia ruptured. The icing on the cake was at the end of the season, when Leeds finally got him match fit - he caught Covid! Compared to the 38 appearances, he made the season before, netting 17 times, and creating 8 assists, the fall from grace has been monumental. There are major doubts whether the soon-to-be 29yo can reach the dizzy heights of two years ago. He is yet to score in 2022, and has looked rusty when we have seen him play. Does Bamford have a future at Elland Road? Can he replicate the form he showed two seasons ago, or is it time that Leeds cut their losses? please log in to view this image PSG transfer list Arnaut Kalimuendo With 18 days to go before the start of the new season, Leeds find themselves in the difficult position of only having a partly fit Patrick Bamford to lead their line. Having missed out on a host of forwards this Summer, Victor Orta is rapidly running out of time to find a goalscorer. Whilst Leeds have missed out on first choice forwards Eddie Nketiah and Charles De Ketelaere, they have been handed a massive boost by French Giants PSG. Leeds have been tracking Arnaut Kalimuendo all Summer, and made a £16m offer for the youngster last month, before losing interest once they heard De Ketelaere was available. Now that the Belgium International is off to the San Siro, Leeds have opened up negotiations with PSG. Kalimuendo is currently on a pre-season tour of Japan where he has already caught the eye of new Manager Christophe Galtier. please log in to view this image
Morning all Adamu is lazy journalism. His name was brought up a few weeks ago. Regarding Bamford I've wondered this myself. He's 28 I think and he's had an injury riddled season. Our best chance to sell him him was last summer when Spurs wanted him. I dunno who would go for him now. Regarding the French kid. Didn't he turn us down last week or something and now we're going for Terrier at Rennes who got 21 goals last season. Tbh We're not scum we don't need to chance a player all summer.
I like Paddy and what he does for the team when he is fit but we cannot rely on him as our main goal scoring threat. We know he is not prolific in front of goal and there is more than a hint of sick note about him these days. We need to get one of these targets on the books otherwise we will suffer from lack of goals like last season.
Morning all. With this close season seemingly lasting forever (blame FIFA for no WC) you'll all be pleased to hear the the Scottish League Cup starts tonight and also some CL qualifying ties with the might Shamrock Rovers in action. If those don't tickle your fancy then you'll have to wait for England's women tomorrow night. Jeez I'm getting desperate....must be the heat.
Shamrock Rovers have already played two CL ties I think. Didnt the 1st qualifying round start 2 weeks ago. Edit - yes they beat Hibernians FC 3-0 on 5th July. That's the Hibs from Malta though
Shamrock Rovers in the CL that reminds me of the time I was on Holiday in Wales with my parents and I was watching John Barnes's Celtic batter a league of Wales team.
But Rennes have slapped a 34m price tag on Terrier. Kalimuendo said over the weekend that he wants to fight for his place at PSG, but if they have now made him transfer listed.
Was wondering the same about Bamford. Ive a feeling he's finished and will soon be behind Gerhardt and hopefully a new striker in the pecking order. This impending arrival of a new striker is likely to be the most important signing of the summer. Has to be a proper one. As Ive said previously, were not in a position financially or pl standing to attract the very best or even the next level behind that so its not easy
Tbh I having a feeling that he's gonna be a wonder bluster player. We'll big him up and then won't be that great. I don't want to sound harsh but he's never gonna in the PSG starting 11 for at least a season while they have Neymar, Messi and Mbappe fit.
Morning, Adamu is not ready to lead a Premier League line. It's either lazy journalism or a lazy transfer policy. As far as i'm concerned the last season Bamford played regularly in the Prem was a success so I think it's premature to suggest his times up. He has however spent a long time out and we shouldn't be going into next season overly reliant on him. I would like to see us try him as a second striker behind a new signing or Gelhardt.
Midget like Messi was never going to make it in any decent team, I would never want us to sign someone that short.
