I wonder how many people will read this and it'll be as new to them as it was to me. In August 2017 there were a series of headlines about Donald Trump looking at an eclipse of the sun with unprotected eyes. It was an iconic image: Search on Google – every article is the same: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=trump look at the sun&source=lmns&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjgteSvoYD5AhUNohoKHcDrCi4Q_AUoAHoECAEQAA I fell for it hook, line and sinker. I mentioned it, I posted about it. After all, it was proof of what I wanted it to say: “Trump’s a buffoon.” Well. It wasn’t quite so. Here’s a better, more representative, image: From: The top image is a fleeting second from a perfectly sensible and safe several minutes looking at the eclipse. The single moment appeared on Twitter and spread across the whole world. It became the story. It was utterly false. I’ve seen people defending is as a real picture. Yes it is, but it represents a falsehood. My reaction? Fury that I was manipulated to believe a lie, one that I desperately wanted to be true. I now know how easy I am to manipulate. Someone raised my emotions, fed me what I want to hear and I spread the lie. It's not hard. That incident is a large part of why I care about why people believe what they believe. I'd go so far as to say that the moment that was pointed out to me my life changed. Vin
Denmark - Wikipedia If I was going to be the next PM, I would want the UK to look very closely at the Danish economic, social, political and environmental policies rather than waffle on about tax cuts, Stalinist housing policies and removal of EU laws. Why? Because Denmark has a very high standard of living due to measures carried out since the mid-19th century. While it has a high tax, this has helped reduce the differentials between high income and low income families. It has invested in its education, health systems, encouraged the growth of industries as it moved away from a dependence on agricultural produce. And funnily enough, it has achieved this prosperity by retaining its freedom within the EU!!!
Having worked and lived there early eighties I totally agree but to get the current incumbents and those that support them to entertain such a fundamental change in philosophy is is pissing in the wind.
That'll be why there are no cases of exposure or sexual assault in this country then. Yeah that works, but you are missing (or avoiding) the point anyway. As has been explained many times, easing up the GRA will make it easier for any man to self identify as a woman. This will give perverts and violent men the opportunity to exploit the situation. You don't have to fully transition to obtain a GRA. In any case why should a woman or girl share a private space with a man whether a potential criminal or not? Men transition to get into women's prisons where they then carry out sexual assaults on other inmates, flashing is one of the lesser crimes they face. There are links to this in a previous post, try to find the time to read one or two before you make any more baseless comments is my advice. At the very least you could do some research. If anyone is being played, it is you and the other virtue signallers who would rather ingratiate themselves than protect the more vulnerable women and children. Women are not inviting these men in nor do they have any say in the matter, it is being imposed on them. You asked me why this was an issue big enough to stop me voting for Labour and I've given my reasons backed by facts. If you and the Oracle don't like it that's your problem. You have only given unfounded opinions thrown in with a few comments to discredit me rather than debate. It seems to be a common theme in your posts, it does you no credit.
Well, not quite. I have a sneaking suspicion that you have quite possibly taken the time to read the report and maybe some of the expert views that I provided in my link to Stephanie Davies-Arai's website, Transgender Trend. Perhaps you may even agree that the NHS advice is correct, in that not enough is known about these drugs to prescribe them to young people with gender dysphoria. I don't know you or your personal circumstance and I'm not asking you to publicly back down on this. Instead, I hope that you can reflect on your position and eventually realise why safeguarding of young people from big pharmaceutical companies is so important. If not, then as Stephanie says, we are failing this generation of children. https://www.transgendertrend.com/
Good luck Bobs mate, I'm a long way left of centre, there are bigger fish to fry.. Soon we will all be dead unless the climate issues are addressed, including my grand children. So think about what's important and then consider this... are gender issues important in the scheme of things, or the survival of our grandkids???? Cause I have a sneaking suspicion that you are arguing what doesn't matter because someone (who could that be), told you to...
In other words, let’s make gender politics a divisive issue and try to shift it centre stage, because the right loses on just about every other current issue relevant to people’s lives the U.K. and elsewhere.
I disagree that this is the reason. Although I do think that the trans issue is much less of an issue in the Uk than the US. If anyone wants to learn more about how the pharmaceutical industry is using gender ideology on children to make money, there is a great documentary. It’s called “what is a woman”. Also a lot of left wing people sound exactly like this:
The "great documentary" is made by the previously-mentioned Matt Walsh, far right commentator, anti-feminist, and self-described (just-kidding-but-I'm-not-kidding) fascist. Yet again Os's open-mindedness leads him down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theorists and extremists.
But doesn’t it still show him interviewing them and then basically having tantrums and not answering questions they deem to be transphobic ? Regardless of who is asking the questions if those are your responses then you are going to struggle i also assume you haven’t watched it (I have only seen clips).
When you say less of an issue do you mean less political impact? Or that it is less prevalent a concern? I have definitely seen left wing US news shows expressing concern about “losing the culture war” whereas one I watch for the U.K. discusses how culture war issues don’t resonate among focus groups
I think it’s less of a political concern here, the biggest reason IMO is because we have the NHS. The for-profit nature of the American healthcare system is leading them to exploit vulnerable children & teenagers. For each person that transitions, it costs over $1million plus lifelong after care for all the side effects. That is why there is a big push across certain social media etc. They make it seem like transitioning is no big deal, totally safe etc. Which is probably false. Transitioning js a massive deal, and very dangerous. The fact people condone these procedures in children is extremely alarming
IT'S ALL BOLLOCKS!!! OR LACK OF THEM.. ANYBODY CAN CLAIM AN IDENTITY, I HAVE NO PROBLEM... MY GRANDKIDS WILL DIE EARLY UNLESS WE GET A GRIP ON WHATS F× CKING OBVIOUS... TALK ABOUT THE THINGS THAT MATTER. I'VE BEEN ON THIS BOARD FOR A LONG TIME. ALWAYS RESPECTED POINTS OF VIEW, AND AT TIMES BEEN MOVED TO BE ARGUEMENTATIVE, BUT IT'S TIME TO GET IT TOGETHER, AND I GET THE WHITE RABBIT FEELING... COME GUYS AND GIRLS OR WHOEVER YOU IDENTIFY AS, REALISE THERE ARE BIGGER FISH... I'M OUT OF HERE UNTIL MORE TALK SENSE..
Bit of a strange post. It's surely possible to care about more than one thing at a time? We've got a climate thread too which you could always post in to try and promote more discussion on the subject. If we're only discussing the really important things maybe we should stop discussing football on this football forum...
It shows a heavily-edited video in which they had invited people under false pretenses: https://www.dailydot.com/debug/trans-people-matt-walsh-fake-documentary/ You're told that you are going to be interviewed for a documentary on the experiences of trans people. You're instead ambushed by a well-known reactionary troll. You going to react well? Note that this genre was basically invented by Alex Jones, the arch conspiracy theorist/Sandy Hook denier.
I'm not sure if we are allowed to talk about this because it's a right-wing diversion tactic. Apparently. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/is-labour-changing-its-mind-on-trans-issues-
Did any of the Tory leadership candidates talk about investment, or raising the state pension, or improving the wages of key workers across the state service sector and how this could be funded? ...... Or did they harp on about tax cuts, getting rid of EU law, being tough on immigration as they have been for the past 12 years. All glitter and no substance has been Government policy since 2010! Living in Mallorca I did not see the debate!!!!
