I've always said it, you need a couple of hard ****s in your team who don't give a **** and will dish out retribution even in the bar or car park after the game.
Would have liked him to do that to the kid with the old 70's guard in attendance, he might have joined a spectator in row z........
The sweaty tw*t is a coward. Leg and body position before, during and after the tackle he knew what he was doing and his only concern was to make sure he couldn't get hurt. Went missing after the foul and made sure he didn't get involved in any 50/50 tackles anywhere near any adult players. Jock scum always has been and always will be.
I didn't watch the match, so can't comment on the game itself. However, I have seen a replay of the tackle from one angle only, in slow motion. KP, Klick et al have tackled like this innumerable times, & we love it! We call it commitment when it happens & deride our players when they are anything short of success or at the very least, failed to be robust. You mention Gray's age, but he was the same age when I watched him in the flesh make some awful tackles v Blackpool, & I wondered if he had been doing so in this match. Oddly enough, he got carried off injured in that game too. Coincidence? Who knows? I didn't see the match, so I guess my question is - was there any jiggery pokery with Gray being naughty earlier in the game that might result in this? I really don't think there was any ill-intent on the part of McGinn. I checked - he got 8 yellows last season, & as far as I'm aware, he's never had a red card.
Absolute crap. He went in with a stamp and turned his back so he couldn’t get hurt. Cowardly tackle the purpose of which was to injure. It’s meant to be a preseason friendly. Take your Scottish tinted spectacles off.
He knew exactly what he was doing. If it was against another seasoned Pro it would be a bad challenge but, as has been said, against a 16 year old kid in a pre season friendly it was ****ing disgusting. You say he didn't get any reds last year. Maybe he didn't make a challenge like that last year.
Yeah, you're probably right. Gray has been putting himself about. Even at the level I played at it was common practice to put young lads in their place if they were pushing their luck. The one thing you don't do (as a human being let alone a professional) is go over the top with downward pressure on a kids joint. It's nasty, cowardly and a sign of insecurity on his part. If he has to do that to a 16 year old in a pre season friendly to assert his authority on the game it shows his true colours. The way to put them in their place is to be strong, shove them about a bit, you know just generally use your experience to negate their influence on the game. If Archie was getting in to him a bit then you can land on them full weight and take the wind out of them etc. To go for a career threatening tackle is out of order. The fact you are sticking up for him purely because he is Scottish doesn't really paint you in a great light either. Thought you were better than that.
Thats why I said how good are the three of them and how does Jesse see them slotting in. If the three are battling for the final position we should let one go. If an offer came in for Rodrigo I’d allow him to leave too
And yet, there's the old football adage 'if you're old enough, you're good enough'. Which we recited a number of times at York as he smashed into various opposition players, just the way we like it. Clearly learned from KP. Btw, do not put words in my mouth - I wasn't just talking about last season when I talked about the red card record. I don't believe he's ever had one or been accused of deliberately injuring someone. In fact, he's probably their most-tackled player & has more cards against him than anyone else in his team. And not just for Villa - he was head-butted playing Armenia a few weeks ago, resulting in a red card.
