Will definitely aim to be watching the England games and was pretty disappointed to fail the ballot for the England - N Ireland game at St Mary’s. I think there is a decent chance of some silverware here, Weigman is a great appointment a rare example of the FA getting something right.

Decent, fast-paced match on the whole I thought despite being the nervy opener. Some crunchy tackles flying in as well.

Is that the first time there's been a VAR check on goal line technology though? I was concerned we were going to get stuck in a VAR review screen/ref's watch space time loop and end up in an infinitely collapsing reality. Turn's out they just awarded the goal instead though.

I went to watch the Northern Ireland v Norway match last night. Shame it did not attract any more than 9100 fans as the effort to welcome new fans was exceptional and I think should be applauded. With regards to the football, I have to say that Norway should have won by a greater margin. It is much better to watch women's football live than on television. I really enjoyed the Saints v Pompey match a few months ago and have to say I did not think there was that much of a gap in quality between that match and last night's.

I think it is brilliant that women's football is getting wider recognition. My big criticism is the fact that the BBC has tended to really overdo the commentaries and the praise heeped on the players is all out of proportion with what I am witnessing. There are moments where it is clear that there has been a massive improvement in the quality of women's football yet, by the same token, last night was indicative that, at international level, the women's game is much slower paced and with the level of passing being shockingly poor. I would love to see stats for the number of passes completed last night. Watching other teams at St mary's really rams it home as to how high the standard of Premier League football is . I have had the sameexperience watching Winchster City play there. Last night was something else, though. It was a brilliant night out and terrific that a younger and largely female audience can attend matches in a safe and inviting atmosphere. The standard of football, though, does not really deserve the purple praise. I felt that most of Northern Ireland's squad looked like they would fail to nail down a place in Wessex League football. We are probably spoilt with having a really good England women's football team but maybe this masks the low standards of other nations. Granted that the Irish team were amateurs, but there were still elements where they looked extremely naive.

I see that the propensity of German footballers to throw themselves to the ground at any opportunity is not gender specific...

Easy, this European football lark, isn't it... Absolute demolition job from England - high, aggressive pressing, ruthless finishing and rock solid defending on the few occasions it was needed. Excellent.

Enjoying these Euro 2022 games. The women are certainly showing the men how its done:emoticon-0136-giggl and thats especially apparent with Saints.
Looking forward to the new season though.

I think that this European competition is throwing up the fact that the quality of women's football is so varied. The match last week at St Mary's featured two really poor teams in Norway and Northern Ireland but England's demolition of the former really underscored how much the women's game has come on. I thought England were absolutely brilliant and could easily have got double figures. The little bit I have seen of Germany is suggestive that they are a good side too. It has not been possible to watch all the matches yet I think I have already seen enough to reveal that there is a massive gulf between the best and worst teams. Northern Ireland look very poor and I would not be surprised if England demolished them by a similar score. Have to say that the England women have been more entertaining than the bloke's team. I hope we can destroy the Germans although I think beating the arrogant Americans in the next World Cup will be more satisfying.

I thought part of the excitement is that Norway are not considered a poor team? And that the 8-0 against them is very different to some of the similar hammerings they have handed out to other sides

Norway are not a bad team. They have a recent Ballon d’Or winner in their team too. They were, however, terribly coached in that game. The LB and LCB were horribly exposed and just could not get their lateral spacings correct. To not make changes until about 60mins was awful. I hope there were some extenuating circumstances to that decision, otherwise I don’t know what he was thinking.

No I think it’s the same, they just have the larger extendable red and white one attached at Saints home games making it look bigger
