Good Morning. It's Monday 11th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. Has the Raphinha deal collapsed? Just when we thought the Raphinha deal had finally been wrapped up, Barcelona may have scuppered the deal at the 11th hour. Last night, the Daily Mail claimed that Barcelona had put together a package worth £63m for the Brazilian ace. They raised hundreds of millions by selling off some of their TV rights, allowing them to wheel and deal in the transfer market this summer. However, an article in this morning's Mundo Deportivo suggests that Barca have put the Raphinha deal on the back burner after Ousmane Dembele agreed to sign a new deal at the Camp Nou. Whilst it doesn't end their pursuit of the Leeds winger, Barcelona have more pressing signatures to chase down, leaving both Leeds and Barcelona in limbo. please log in to view this image The recruitment at Elland Road had not been very good for a while It's difficult to look at the signing's made this Summer and not feel optimistic about the season ahead. Even having lost our midfield lynchpin, and knowing that Raphinha isn't far behind, there is a real feel of confidence around Elland Road, that wasn't there last this time last year. Good morning all from an already sweltering southamptom Been away on a cruise to the Norwegian fjords from the 2-9 july, so just getting back to normal, before you ask, the scenery was incredible but the weather was lousy, cold & wet. And even worse can you believe I had a tooth twinge on the day we left and two days later was raging . Saw the ships Doctor who prescribed a weeks course of metronidazole, hurrah got rid of the the pain, one huge drawback though, no alcohol for the entire time I was on this medication . Also Can’t believe the Rapha saga has not been brought to a conclusion by now.
Tell me about it, and i still have a couple of days of medication to go, god i missed the large rum & cokes, also a few pints with the BBQ yesterday.
I suppose a glass half full guy would also say that you will also be missing the hangover this morning too.

I remember a friend of mine, who is a chemist at a pharmacy, telling me that the no alcohol when taking antibiotics, is advice from the olden days, and that now a days for most people, there would be minimal effects to anyone drinking whilst on the medication, although of course the medical profession are going to cover themselves by saying don't drink It's funny when doing a search for "can you drink alcohol when on antibiotics" the following headline advice is received on the first page of a Google results screen "It's a good idea to avoid drinking alcohol when taking medicine or feeling unwell. But it's unlikely that drinking alcohol in moderation will cause problems" - From NHS Website "Usually alcohol does not affect how well an antibiotic works to fight an infection, but the combination may lead to unpleasant side effects" - Drugs.com (presumably this is a domain name owned by Marcus ) "Drinking alcohol while taking antibiotics can be risky. As usual thanks for the in depth research Aski, still a bloody alcohol free zone for me though, for the next two days metronidazole, leaflet inside the box, mentions hallucinations, heart tremors etc Apparently the wife (who works in the medical profession) says this is one Antibiotic you don't mess with. they must be bloody powerful as eased toothache within the hour.
Well I don't blame you for following your other half's advice over mine, although the effects of that medications appear similar to the effects of watching Leeds United
In defence of Aski, have a look at the massive directions inside any box of aspirin and itwill say not to be taken with alcohol. Any medication says the same. Medics covering their arses. This is a fact, last summer I was on chemo and taking chemo tablets which were giving me nightmares. It got to the stage where those pink fkrs had me retching every time i saw anything pink, so couldnt take them any more. The oncologist asked what my fav drinks are I told him lager and red wine, he said there you go then take them with a beer in the morning and a couple of glasses of red wine in the evening. I was taking 8 of these big pink fkers morning and another 8 in the evening. Now if I can take alcohol with chemo poor old Southern should be able to get wrecked when taking antibiotics
According to the QI elves it does go back to olden days. It was to stop those given antibiotics for the clap going out and infecting others or getting reinfected.
