On a derby day, I despise every scruffy red and white shirted one of you. I look at your section with scorn and derision in my eyes, wishing dispicable things on all of you.

After the final whistles gone, nowt's the bother.

I've been best man for a red and white twice, a red and white was my best man. (Mind you, still can't stand the twat on a match day).

Don't mind red and whites. Can't stand mackems. There's a big difference.

some of my friends is supports Sunderland, theres the usual slagging every week about how the teams fair up.
But there is a few things that unite us, hatred of Liverpool,Kerry,France and frenchies who live in kerry who support liverpool.

One thing that I have noticed is how something bad seems to happen to each team.SAFC loosing to Notts, then us loosing to Stevenage.Bent leaving SAFC,then ******* leaving us.
Maybe the two clubs are more closely linked than ye think.

We are both mad about our clubs, our area. Players, managers , owners come and go but the real fans will always be there.

Mr Beak ~ In my eyes, you can't be a mackem AND a red and white. A mackem is a derogatory term, and I wouldn't wish to offend you by calling you one. You are a non offensive red and white, same as many on here. Mind you, there are some nasty mackems as well. :emoticon-0173-middl

By the way, can you see the Shrine Of St. James from your apartment? Lucky you!

The rivalry and the term mak'em goes back many years to the old ship building era when both the Tyne and Wear were very busy rivers.

Ships were often built on the Wear but then brought over to the Tyne to be fitted out hence the term, "You mak'em and we tak'em"!

Well a mackems someone born in Sunderland, and i was born in Sunderland, so i'm a mackem.

Concurred, we do have knobheads on both sides, but they are certainly in the minority in my opinion, a few of your lads i've had decent craic with, and many of my 'real' friends are mags, many of them are great lads who i am proud to call friends.

And finally, yes, i can see the shed from my balcony and from my living room window.

Fortunately 92% of it is obscured by 55 degrees north!

I'm ever so slightly baffled as to how you know where i live mind...
