Other translated bits Acun Ilıcalı: "We are able to advance the negotiations about Fenerbahçe faster. We can transfer from Galatasaray, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor in a way that the clubs will also win." Acun Ilıcalı: "We talked to a football player from Galatasaray and Beşiktaş, their clubs gave permission. But the players did not want it. The same from Trabzonspor. We got it from Hatayspor. We want to get Doğukan from Antalyaspor." Ozan Tufan: "To make a self-criticism, I admit that I play badly from time to time, and that I have some problems when I am not in the squad. But most people are not aware of the last incident. I will ask Acun's permission to talk about these later. I will make a statement." Acun Ilıcalı: "I can't say Fenerbahce either. I'm the owner, not the president of the team. We didn't buy the team for a while. We will have this club for many years." (Talking about who he is supporting in match, earlier said difficult to support City due to childhood support of Fb) Acun Ilıcalı: "We have a great potential in our team. Right front is Iranian national. There are two strikers, both are national. Left front is British national. Our midfield is Turkish national. Ivory national, another Turkish national ... All sides are national players at the moment." Acun Ilıcalı: "We will help those who want to take the world stage. Unfortunately, we cannot reach every talent at the moment. But we can think of Hull City as a platform to introduce Turkish football players to the world." Acun Ilıcalı: "This team is the Turkish team right now. But the Turkish team does not mean that only Turks will play. But of course, I will give priority to Turkish talents." Acun Ilıcalı: "We are still in talks with 3 players at the moment. I want it to be an extraordinary team. Happy together and sad together."
That was a bigger chore that I thought when I started! Anyway I’ve edited it to add any vaguely interesting sounding bits
Baz has been saying it's confirmed all summer, and I suppose there was the Kesler interview where he called him our first signing, but like you (and every media outlet) I'm still waiting for the club to announce it officially. I do wonder if he'll play for us tomorrow without ever having been confirmed as a City player.
I read it more as ‘priority for signing Turkish talents’. I hope Shota and the coaching staff have full autonomy to choose the team itself.
Things are gathering pace now. Certain players will need time to bed in and become part of the system. The crowd needs to be patient and not get frustrated early doors.. That said…sounds like the big Turk means business.
“Our midfield is Turkish national. Ivory national, another Turkish national” Sounds like we’ve signed or are going to sign another Turkish midfielder (Özdemir?) because Tufan is the only Turkish midfielder on the books atm as far as I’m aware? Unless he classes Sinik as a midfielder.
