The gassing of the Kurds happened in the late 1980s and the west didn't give a toss and ignored it cos they were were fighting Iran at the time.
I remember the campaigning against Britain and the US selling weapons to Iraq in my union at the time NALGO.
Yet Britain, US and others continued to arm the murderous Iraqi government until they invaded Kuwait.

The Kurds were again gassed after the American lead UN war against Iraq in 1990. The US encouraged the Kurds to rise up against Iraq and then betrayed them by allowing the Iraq government to survive.

For these things Saddam Hussein and his government should be forever remembered as scum.

I am not an apologist for that foul regime but the 2003 war was not about regime change. Blair made that clear in Parliament at the time on several occasions.
It was because they claimed he had weapons of mass destruction that were able to be used against Britain.

The UN inspectors made it clear that this was not true. They couldn't have been more clear that this was not the case.

Yet Blair agreed to bomb the **** out of a civilian population...presumably dying from US and UK army/airforce was better than by than dying at the hands of the iraqi army or airforce.

(This is aimed at Blair and Co not anyone on here.)

I ain't digging at anyone but I just can not agree that Blair was a decent PM.
For me, he should be charged with war crimes.

Always beware the flag raiser RCL. Blair's actions were predicated by 9/11 and the almost revolutionary zeal from Blair to literally change the world. The road to ruin is paved with good intentions and that was the road he took. To carry on with the metaphors: Power Corrupts and Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely. Blair believed his own hype and took his cues from Thatcher. It's all there in this video of Blair after 9/11.

I reacted the same to the girl crying outside and her friend saying - it's ok, they don't mean the blowjob.

No pressure, Durham Police, but we're expecting big things out of your soon-to-be knighted chief inspector...

Was just about to post that myself.
Quite incredible the extent and seriousness of that behaviour. The cover up by so many areas of Government (and Security Services) should be subject of a criminal prosecution.

We already know that won't happen....<doh>

Why do the fecking news media continually get voxpop from brain-dead pondlife from the streets of particularly red-wall England?

Politically ignorant Neanderthals spouting 'got Brexit done' / Vaccine rollout / 'he nearly died' bullshit <doh>
One just said 'I think he has to go as he has lost credibility'. When the living **** was he ever credible?

    **** the lot of them!

I thought Suella Braverman was the token 'joke' candidate for Tory leader, but apparently Grant Shapps is lining up a bid! <doh>

It is telling how, the second the Deathgate article and supporting video went live, not only has No10 backpeddled on claiming he nearly died but the media too, with the BBC saying he was in ICU for three whole days earlier

That really needs to be ramped up now, because the second he realises the people don't love him it's over

I mean, he hasn't actually resigned.
He's said that he'll serve as head of the party until the Tories select a new leader.
That's always been true, strictly speaking.

As he has no scruples or morals and is prepared to lie, deceive and do whatever it takes to get where he wants, it’s not inconceivable as he stays in Number 10 over the coming weeks, that the leadership candidates previously loyal to him could back down, the leadership contest evaporates and he just carries on as if nothing has happened.
The previously obsequious sycophants in the party then fall back in line and before you know it everybody has confidence in the Prime Minister again.
It’s feasible with these Tories isn’t it?
