Huddlestone, more likely. Both Huddlestone and Seri are deep-lying playmakers, not ball-winning defensive midfielders. We actually still need to replace Smallwood as neither Tufan nor Seri would be replacements for that role.
We should never have let Honeyman go , every team needs a grafter but that boats sailed now unfortunately up the Tigers
Training with the first team. Does that indicate that they think highly of him and are expecting him to progress quickly?
Connor Mahoney – an attack-minded midfielder who can play through the centre of the pitch or in both wide positions – joins Huddersfield Town as a free agent after departing fellow Championship club Millwall.
its the needless short misplaced passes which seem odd since he will come up with a hollywood type pass every now and then.
That’s probably why he’s playing in the championship then. I can live with it too considering how limited our midfield has been for a while now
for even more context he started the first 20 games ish and then once cairney was fit, reed and/or cairney were favoured over him. he was sub in basically the last 8 games. apart from once the title was won and they let him start a game in which they lost 4-0. he was brought off at half time in two games against blood and thunder clubs and wasnt injured. like some of their fans say he isnt the man you want in the trenches but can play some superb football. when he wants to. i watched him play in the africa cup of nations and he didnt do much. but then again not many did. i am sure if he has an enforcer type beside him he will be good for us. i mean they were aiming to to win the title scoring a record number of goakls etc. i dont think our aspirations are that high. not yet....
Often went missing, give the ball away a lot and is easily dispossessed due to his size other than those three little things he sounds goodhmm, hopefully though he will be good for us.
It sounds like Silva was maybe not playing Seri in his best role and used him more as cover until his preferred player came back from injury.. I personally think we'll see Seri & Tufan play in front of a proper defensive midfielder.. part of a 3 man midfield. Hopefully then he can really shine for us.
Seri will be playing in the deep midfield role so he'll either be playing the holding role alone or alongside someone (Tufan) with a more advanced midfielder
Given Shota asked George to play further right towards the end of last season it's probably unlikely we'll play with a single central attacking midfielder as Honeyman likes to play. Probably will be 2 more adventurous ones either side of a DM, be it a Huddlestone style one or enforcer type. I can't see it being 3 centre backs, 2 wingbacks and 2 holding midfielders like we finished the season (mostly).
Maybe not, but I just can't see Seri playing as a box to box or more advanced. Acun said he wants him to orchestrate the team, so he'll be playing deep. Tufan has stats scarily similar to Doch in many respects so I think it'll work a bit like our L1 season and then we'll bring somebody in to replace Honeyman. I'm expecting a ball winning midfielder too mind.
Agreed, a bit like Liverpool or Man City's midfield. No out and out attacking midfielder or a classic "10", but 2 central mids with a bit of freedom to go and play, knowing there's protection behind by the defensive midfielder, whoever that may be for us.
