Chesney Jenkinson Vermaelen Koscielny Santos Song Rosicky Arshavin Theo Park Benayoun Pretty strong team: Vermaelen gets game time, Rosicky has a quality tackle on him, there's LOADS of experience with Arshavin, Benayoun & Rosicky in it. Theo gets a half, perhaps Gervinho gets the other half. Park gets a chance to show what he can do. Arteta gets a rest as he's played a lot recently. I'd have a very strong bench with Ramsey, Arteta, RvP all ready to come on if necessary. Arsenal need to WIN this group - no repeat of last years shenanigans!!
One question guys, why not just play Walcott in the centre? I mean, he is dying to play there and that goal he scored on the weekend just shows his striker credentials. He would give Marseille big problems with that pace of his. Although it would be good to see Park fire too. On a side note, WHERE IS MIYAICHI!!!!!
I'd say that Rosicky will probably start. He is finding some form, and is an experienced head at this level of competition, knowing what Arsenal need to qualify. Id say Benayoun will start on the right, Gervinho on the left, and hopefully Arshavin will play just behind Park. This should create some fluidity as Arshavin can drift out to the wings, allowing Benayoun to come central, Rosicky can also play down both sides, and the same with Gervinho. I hope to see a lot of movement behind Park (save for the back 4 and Song), which will hopefully catch the defence off guard. I'd also hope to see the wingers cutting in when the fullbacks overlap, and try and overload the centre of defence and create some nice runs through the channels and hope for a decent through ball. (Much to the same effect of how we got the our 1st goal vs Chelsea).
They've picked up a bit since we went over to France so expect a challenge. Personally I'd be starting RVP - 3 points tomorrow and we can relax a little...
Its hard to justify a spot for Miyaichi at the moment. Gervinho is playing well on the left, and the game vs Marseille is pretty crucial (we need to secure our place in the next round, as well as that 1st place finish). Maybe after we have secured 1st place, then the younger ones will get their chance to shine in the final group games, until then qualifying in first is a HUGE responsibility. RVP probably wont start, but if needed he will come on, protecting his fitness at this point, is even more crucial than making sure we qualify vs Marseille (since we will still have two group games if needed to do so).
