Joined no doubt just as we beat Hendon in the Cup and thinking of the glory years that lay ahead. Poster Boy? More like Johnny come Lately.
I feel your pain. Born and raised in Kent but my Dad is from Newcastle so they've always been my team. 42 years old and had to endure the Ashley years but all people are going to see now is a southerner in a toon shirt. First world problems
40 - moved away from the North East (to North Yorkshire) when I was 11... went to my first Toon game when I was 8. Not been to a game for about 6 or 7 years however (family / time / funds / priorities). Everyone locally knows I am and have always been a Newcastle fan. Anyone else that may question it can think what they want.
Used to sit on the little wall at front of the Leazes End and watch Jackie Milburn and stll love the Toon now, how's that
I'm a definite plakka mag. Started supporting the toon back in 1994 when living in Paris (I was a kid). My next door neighbour was a geordie and I was good mates with his son. They got me into football but I could have (should have) been a PSG supporter! That would have been a wild ride ha! Spent most of my life living in York before moving to the North East in 2017. Been up this way ever since
born ashington ,christened in the RVI first game 1982 with me dad when keegan left the second time , I started my protest against ashley (never been back ) Am I a plaka , maybe
Born St Mary’s Hospital, when in Newcastle (moved abroad for a few years as a little un) grew up Forest Hall and North Shields. Moved away back in 1991, weirdly then saw my first live game after that (vs Wimbledon, 4-0, Beardsley hattrick, Cole the other) from 1993. Da was never big on football and a miserable prick anyway so never going out of his way. Ended up going with a fella called Joe who was a close friend of the family, ran a paper shop in Forest Hall/Palmersville. Have autographs from Gazza, Mira, Ando and more so always been a fan. Last match was last season, Soton away. I’m part plakka, part fair weather.
So is it now compulsory for us all to post our life story on here so that @Hung,Drawn and Quartered can determine our degree of plasticity? I am not going to lower myself to this Mainly because I reckon I might be over 50%.
Right then if it’s compulsory. I first started going to the match eight years before I was born. I go to 84 matches per season and am always first in the ground and last out of it. Have been doing this for 169 years. At the match I always wear 7 football strips, 9 scarves, 4 NUFC hats, 45 badges and carry a spare pair of football boots in case I’m needed. I chant non stop for the entire time during the game and drink 37 pints of lager before during and after the game.
How do you drink lager AND chant. Also if you had ever been to a game you would know you are not allowed to take alcohol onto the terraces. Your exaggeration suggests you have enough plastic in you to kill a serious amount of marine life when you go swimming.
First game I remember watching on TV was the cup final in 74. Yep, didn't put me off. Think I started going in 1976, either Leazes end or Gallowgate. Got a season ticket the year we signed Andy Cole, had it for a while. I've turned plastic now though, now I can't get a ticket.
