Look at how Burnley have sold and invested. That is what Gino should be looking at, but no. He just gets some muppet to write some junk and throw it out to the plebs (us).

Actually their owners have put the club into a lot of debt which isn’t ideal .

I suspect it’s a case of promotion or almost going bust for them .

    High risk policy .

Yes it is true they got some good looking players in and we need more .

They're in big doo doo. They really hadn't budgeted for relegation. The club debt can be immediately called I think. (I haven't refreshed myself on this but Mrs Fez was telling me about it at the end of the season)

I think (and I know we all do <ok>) the way the club acted during the pandemic was a continuance of the ethos of the club we all love and of which we have so much pride.

Hughes, I agree, was a huge loss, and probably imho a critical loss. But while I’ve no idea what the club’s reasons were, I’m sure they realised Hughes’ value, and were reluctant to let him go. There must be a good explanation for what went on.

Other signings have been mixed. Ivic was a poor fit, one I feel could have been foreseen. I mean, it’s not like a player who just doesn’t quite fit the team chemistry - I doubt Ivic entered the board for his interview kicking his heels together at his side à la Dick van Dyke singing ‘Step in Time’, although it’s a diverting picture - he was always a miserable sod who didn’t seem to be Watford. But even Ivic wasn’t a Bassett. The poor player signings (forgetting the good) were not as terrible as Ellington, which was a ‘**** or bust’ signing if ever there was one (and financially hit us hard when we could least afford it).

I’m very happy with Gino and look forward to taking up our places in the SEJ from July 30th.

This is in no way a criticism of your post, Luther. You provide superbly cogent views. Just something I wanted to add. <ok>

True. And they sold Chris Woods, and he’s a right ugly bastard.

From memory, prior to his appointment at Watford, Ivic had an extremely impressive coaching record at his two previous clubs - PAOK and Maccabi Tel Aviv, particularly with the latter - so obviously had something. Perhaps his lack of success here was more to do with our players and their reactions to his style?

He's back at Maccabi again and helped them qualify for the Europa Conference League play offs this year - where they were narrowly beaten by PSV Eindhoven. Heck, he's even managed to get Stipe Perica scoring regularly...

Cambridge Utd. leading 0-1 (Knibbs in the 15th minute) at Watford's training ground.

Not entirely surprised after seeing Watford's starting line-up.

Cambridge Utd. now leading 0-2: Ironside in the 46th minute. Adian Manning plays in midfield.

Cambridge Utd. leading 0-3 (Ironside in the 50th minute).

I wonder whether the 8 changes at half-time have played a part in Watford conceding two quick goals.

The three players who stayed on (Dele-Bashiru, Cathcart and Kabasele) have now been replaced by Masina, Morris and Holding in the 62nd minute.

Morris has pulled a goal back (1-3) from a cut back by Baah in the 68th minute.

Blake replaces João Pedro, who has played for only 30 minutes, in the 75th minute. Injury or fitness issues?

Another Watford substitution as Adeyemo replaces Baah in the 85th minute.
