I think there is a reasonably sensible assumption that if you haven't heard of any other type of Rugby, then you assume there is only one Rugby game. Let's be honest; RL is a minority sport followed by about 264 people in this country, with a few more in Australia. Also, Rugby Union has a divisional league structure to decide who is the better team, so there you go. Rugby Leagues. Easy mistake to make.
You would. But I remember Tony Blair saying how he remembered taking his seat on Gallowgate End at Newcastle to watch Jackie Milburn. Wor Jackie stopped playing for Newcastle when Blair was 4 and seats weren’t put on the Gallowgate end until 37 years after he retired. No doubt his scriptwriters thought these claims would make the Geordies think he was one of them and one of the lads.
She was spouting what her scriptwriters wrote. Just as Blair did about Wor Jackie and made himself look at it when he was PM. Might be a good idea to have someone supposedly involved with ministries dealing with sport who knows something about it. Though that hasn’t happened for years with either party.
Whoever it was is likely not to be in a job much longer. But you are right, most ministerial positions know nothing about what they are ministers for. I had some dealing with the fisheries minister when I was in the fish business, and he knew next to nothing, it was his advisors that made the bullets and he shot them.
My favourite was the time Jonny Wilkinson passed to Eddie Wareing in that classic Aussie Rules SuperBowl…
I've been using a new browser for a few weeks now. It's called Brave, has built-in adblocker and a thing to hide your ip address (but not a vpn). Anyone else tried it? Any downsides? I've just found it to be 3 or 4x quicker than Chrome although I'm not keen on their search engine.
