Plan would be to start at the end of one season, blast on for the entire following season, then aske the following season's first 4 games be played away from home as breathing space.
That's how many were online today - I know 5 fans (all southerners) who are doing it later in the week. Be really interesting to know what the membership looks like a week out fro mthe start of the season inc season ticket holders...
One of my sons went on at 1.30, was 40,000 or so in the queue and waited less than 5mins. I went on at 10.30, was about 15,000, so went out, came back a couple of hours later during which my turn has come and gone, so joined the queue again generating a new number and was on in about 15mins. Cost us £110, something of a con in reality, but, like the lottery, you got to be in it to win it.
I doubt they'll have sold that many TBH. Many of the people logging in will have been logging in on many different accounts I think they should have had stricter criteria for memberships this season tbh, otherwise there's no point in them as everyone having them makes their purpose meaningless.
The more the merrier that joined up. Shows NUFC is not a 'closed shop' and more fans have the chance of attending games.
I just looked and got straight on but the queue said I was 42,000 so that must have been the amount of people who had be queuing in total since 10AM. I got mine at about 11:30 and was about 13,000 in the queue
If this is the case then why bother with memberships in general? If everyone has one then there's no point because the main perk is too widely dispersed to be effective! If there's 31k ST holders + 30k members that literally means not even members will get to go many of the games, never mind the general public.
Membership doesn't guarantee a ticket, if it did, it's just a watered down ST. Nor should said membership guarantee anything other than a chance of a ticket. There are plenty of NUFC fans who cannot afford a ST, Live or Work away, and this gives those fans the chance to attend games when they can. What your suggesting is effectively a 'closed-shop' for the few and **** anyone else. Besides who would set any criteria for Membership.
To be honest I think most of the extra people who have taken out membership today will be similar to me in the fact that I will only get to 5 or 6 games this season but knew that membership was the only way I would have a chance to get any tickets. I doubt the majority of members go to every single game
No, it's not right to compare memberships to ST's as ST's guarantees you a specific seat, where as memberships usually used to guarantee you a seat, but not a specific seat, and you have to play the lottery most weeks and hope you get in on time, where as ST holders have far more peace of mind. Plus ST's cost less over a season than purchasing individually, but at the same time provide less flexibility to miss games you can't attend. Memberships should grant you priority enough to guarantee you'll go to home games, but not necessarily the best seats in the ground, just a seat. I'd assume you'd only purchase a season ticket if you could get a decent enough seat right?
Well, like it or not, you'll have to take your chances the same as anyone else. A tip youngun, never presume anything about other people's circumstances. As a long standing ST holder, I gave it up last season due to Heart Failure and Chronic Kidney Failure, as it happens I'm not fit enough to attend all games, but if through Membership I can attend a few,.all well and good. Actually, thinking about it, I'm more entitled than you. Now **** off and stop whining.
Calm down bro. What I'm saying is that the main membership perks make more sense if memberships are more limited. It also makes it fairer for the general public so that not only members and ST holders get to go. IMO it should be - 3k away fans 30k ST holders 10k members 10k general sale. Restricting memberships makes more sense than allowing everyone to have one and making them a lot more pointless. A tip oldun never assume anyone younger than you has an inferior level of wisdom.
I'm all for 10k General sale. If you think membership should be restricted, give yours up, that'll be a start to keeping numbers down.
But surely the memberships are a good revenue stream for the club, if 30,000 people buy a membership at £35 a pop it makes over £1 million for the club.
