From a footballing point of view we better win this game if it goes ahead/. Qatar lost to Linfield this week so there will be quite a meltdown if we don't. I know we do it a lot but shame we couldn't play Wycombe or Cambridge "away" rather than behind closed doors. Maybe no-one wanted to host us as we have pull out in the past late on?
Watford’s proposed pre-season friendly with the Qatar national team has been cancelled. A club spokesman said: "The game was never finalised and it became abundantly clear this was a game not to play; as such, the schedule was revised."
Sometimes I really do not understand the thinking at the club. They take steps to try to improve relations with the supporters and then they put their foot in it again. In this case, they make Luther a Life Vice President to please the Watford fans and then they arrange a controversial preseason fixture. Perhaps there was a financial inducement, but at least they have now cancelled the fixture. I hope that - at this late stage - they will be able to replace it with another game in Austria.
Bad PR move in the first place although some weren’t that fussed but a large majority certainly expressed their concerns .
Lots of rumours swirling about this one, including drunken brawls. "Club and keeper Rob Elliot mutually agree to terminate contract to allow 36-year-old to consider options. Club want additional keeper added."
May not be losing this one? It's not often you see a headline that Man Utd are priced out of a move for a Watford player... https://the72.co.uk/2022/06/28/manc...-of-move-for-championship-ace-report-reveals/
Interesting that Udinese's friendly game against the Qatar national team in Austria on Sunday 24 July has not been cancelled.
It hs been reported that Watford wanted £4 million, but Man. Utd. wanted to sign him on a free transfer. He is still of value to Watford because he counts as a home grown player, but I am not sure how this is compatible with the idea that the club will not keep players who want to leave because Bachmann must be attracted by the possibility of joining Man. Utd. and greatly increasing his wages.
Para mí, el Mundial de Fútbol de Qatar ya tiene un equipo ganador: El @WatfordFC , que ha decidido cancelar su partido contra la selección de Qatar, por ser un país que no respeta los derechos de las mujeres y del colectivo LGTBI
Why is Cristiano Giaretta monitoring Rob Edwards' training sessions (just as he and Giraldi have done with head coaches in the past) rather than working on new signings for the club. Scott Duxbury said that the club is changing their approach and that he has great confidence in the appointment of Edwards, but I assume that Giaretta is acting on instructions from Gino Pozzo. His presence at training sessions undermines the authority of Edwards and gives the impression that nothing has really changed for Gino. I hope that I am wrong.
