this is a ground level shot by a scally looking over the wall sunday, you can get the scale and the steel work thats going up vertically on the side. They assembling roof parts ready to lift up and that frame work for the second teir gives an idea of how bloody high it is.
The latest videos of the site shows some really big cranes on site ready for the roof truss to go up. I have seen the following explanation a) the centre straight run of the roof truss has been assembled and is actually on the steel work frame right at the front of the work done. (orange) b) The uprights have been built (blue) c) there will be a smaller section thats angled on each side to join these parts up. Fairly massive. (purple) d) the 3 central spans of the upper tier have been erected and part have been assembled on site to connect from these central spans to the roof truss to lock it all together for stability for the next month and any gales and storms come up. (green) on Red and white kop there an image which shows this. please log in to view this image https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=344055.msg18395285#msg18395285 some lad took this photo (they are hanging over the walls at this point photoing.) please log in to view this image
Seemingly it'll be very neat on the main stand side. Not sure on the Kenny side but it is what it is.
Does the club own the houses behind the Kenny stand? The Kop is obviously the only stand that would be too difficult to expand.
No. Bought them up 30 years ago and ended up having to give them away. Refurbished and all that good stuff so no way that is ever getting done The history of what moores and parry etc did in the 1990s was revealed and the club decided to hold the dereliction it caused around the main stand and anfield Road side but gave back stiff on the Kenny side If you think about it the stadium today flows directly from those actions and dereliction caused by lfc and fsg just dusted them off and built 20 years later. Look up "anfield plus" Moore and parry were the worst thing to ever happen to lfc. Gilette and hicks were just symptoms of their rot.

I know you said it cant but the vision must be to do the Kenny stand Get the three sides nice and neat then look to do something innovative to the kop
I think whatever those plans might be they will be on a server in boston and not let near anyone this side of the pond. The last shot above shows the issues with the Sir kenny side. So the construction was that we took the existing lower stand that was in place from the 70 or 80s. the second tier and corporate boxes were added in 1990-92 and are maximum pitch of slope in the space. there is currently 11,672 in there. 6,800 of these are in lower tier. the picture shows that to do anything remotely similar to the main stand (which is a compromise structure and has some crap views) the whole thing would need to go with a redone lower tier. this means 11000 fans not able to go to games for 2 years. = FSG losses. The right to light issue means that skerries road and the houses on wylva road side would have to go. thats 3 rows of houses! remember we are talking 11,672 to go up to 20,000 here. the main stand as 9000 in the lower tier alone never mind the rich ****s in the boxes and the poor shivering masses up in the sky This alone would make anfield a 70k stadium. the Kop side is something of a quandry. The issue is that they've gone and built a super store and do a shed load of business to OOT tourists for massive dosh for signed photos and frames stuff etc etc etc. thats and the albert basically stop any thought of something bigger than today but the single biggest issue when you look at the walton brek a road is the fact its and A road. https://www.planit-ie.com/walton-br...ls,social, economic and environmental renewal. Its not like whats there is all that but the church there is an issue so to reroute that road even slightly to give anfield room to expand the kop to have another however many people up in the rafters is a problem. HOWEVER, if you solve the road issue then you run into the fact that the kop is steep, narrow leg room and probably wouldn't mean guidelines so you should well expend it and end up getting very few extra seats. the new main stand and how the centenary stand are done in terms of roof trusses means you can't fill in corners. Finally. unless someone is willing to work the access issue AKA rail then getting 70k people in and out of the area every home game is still another issue. this is why FSG have done what they have done. Sold melwood upgrade kirkby = cheapest means to modern training facilties (not world class mind, just modern) 120mil loaned to club on 10 year pay back (5 years ago we started pay back) to build main stand 70mil on anfield road end paid for full out of LFC own accounts. (no fsg exposure) There is now way in hell this lot are putting down north of 250mil to put 9000 extra seats in the sir kenny stand cos its a total rebuild and the would not take the 11k capacity loss while they did it.
Really dislike when stands at stadiums don’t match each other. much nicer to have one like Bayerns stadium that’s just a bit round bowl where it all links up nicely. Just aesthetically looks pleasing.
also soulless. the mistake that west sham made when they stole the Olympic bowl and move their scum fans in was that they broke the groups. the kop is a community. to keep the place you have to keep the same fans together and its a gradual handover and the same culture exists. Move en mass and you get the emirates, the man city non entity, pride park, st mary's etc etc etc. When Southampton moved grounds they were relegated. anfield has never been one aesthetically pleasing soulless bowl. its always been s it is now.
Let's not forget to factor in the costs of our increase to have a bigger stadium that Tottenham at a 10th of the price. Or others who move from their 'spiritual' home and history like Arsenal into a soulless bowl.
Spurs got self filling point glasses for 1 billion.... as a stadium that looks like a toilet bowl. please log in to view this image they don't like admitting it but its basically one giant crock of ****. Arsenal have never been the same since they moved from highbury. Its very dull in the ground. Personally i think the redevelopment of the north bank took way too long in the 90s and that killed it as well. anfield had a goodbye party on the final day of season, played first 3 gamess way in 2018 and there was this giant stand. this time round the peopel in the anfield road end will wave bye before the world cup and come back to a massively better view and a bit of a windy winter as they see a new roof above them. Next season 23/24 is 14 months away and fans won't miss hardly a beat but 5000 extra reds will be able to watch us.
That's after the concerts that have been on and ruined it. But seriously it won't be a whole new pitch.
