Fast and Furious gotta be the best (worst) example of it. What started out as a street racing film has turned into cars up against tanks, submarines, flying through buildings and going into ****ing space, not forgetting Vin Diesel is also seemingly as strong as superman whilst those who die, don't actually die...
Well bar The Sopranos, Boardwalk empire, Breaking bad, Game of Thrones, Our friends in the North, Boys from the Black stuff, True Detective, The Bridge and Chorlton and the wheelies.
The Sopranos - An argument could be made for this, ill concede Boardwalk Empire - Nah, Last season was awful Breaking Bad - *sigh* See above Game of Thrones - Seasons 7 and 8 are two of the worst seasons of television ever produced, not even close to being on par with the Wire Our Friends in the North, Boys from the Black Stuff, The Bridge, Chorlton and the Wheelies () - Never heard of them, as a rule if I havent heard of a show, its **** True Detective - Season 1 was amazing, everything after that sucked balls
What! You've never seen Our Friends in the North and Boys from the Black stuff! Two of British TV's finest moments! And yet you know all about Yankee TV! I put it to you then, sir that your assertion that the Wire is the best bar none has, by your own admission, been made rashly and without the warranted information to make such a brash statement. You sir are in no position to talk such drivel. Get yourself gone! @luvgonzo see this imposter off my good man.
pfft, Boys from the Black Stuff was made before i was born, in my defence (after looking it up). But regardless, I would propose that any show produced by a British studio is instantly disqualified from being in the run in by virtue of the fact that Britain cannot make good drama TV, or very rarely. Sitcoms we excel, Only Fools, Fawlty Towers, The Office, Inbetweeners, Porridge, all classics, But when it comes to dramatic TV, the best the UK has to offer is ****e like Broadchurch. That may have been different in the 70's and 80's, but not of late I am afraid.
How very dare you, have you lost your wits man! Wasn't Broadchurch remade by the Americans? What about Sherlock, State of play, The thick of it, Silent witness, Skins, Shameless(also stolen by the Yanks)? As I said, you're not equipped to be making such sweeping statements. Come back when you're pistols are loaded, then we'll dance Hombre.
Stolen and improved tenfold, by the yanks, I might add. Thats an exception though, not the rule, their remakes of The Office, Skins and inbetweeners were duff.
The Wire is pretty much the best and I've seen Our Friends from the North (I just don't like Eccleston) and Boys From the Black Stuff. So I'm there backing him and he goes and chats **** about British TV dramas, British Shameless is far superior and then we can also add This Is England, Top Boy (Summerhouse) and The Virtues to the list you already posted up.
Luther, Peaky Blinders,Prime suspect, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, spy, Killing Eve to mention but a few. Yer man hasn't got a clue. The Wire is good but best ever! Nup. No way
I'd just add that the British, House of Cards is about a gazillion times better than the American sex abuser one
First three or four Line of Duties were very good. Currently watching Sherwood, on the 4th one right now. Nothing wrong with British drama. Comedy drama wise, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet series 1 & 2, is best ever made.
