I think it was done to appease fans, clearly, apart from dotting the i's and crossing the t's they obviously feel they are done.
Baz says personal terms already agreed in principle, so I guess it is a medical, work permit and sign on the dotted line, the latter not being a problem as he is a full international.
I really want it, but don't believe it (will happen). They only flirted with relegation because of Bielsa's stubborness and a really bad run of injuries & suspensions. Unlikely to happen again (unfortunately). They might well lose their best 2 players but they'll have a treasure chest to replace them and more. On the other hand, I'm only really concerned with how we do. If we do well, the reason I dislike Leeds will look after itself.
I don't think Marsch is that much of an upgrade on Bielsa, and their record with signings has been very poor.
I’d be delighted if we signed Dwight Gayle. I thought he was younger than 32 though, though he’s still a good player.
I'm not sure he's an upgrade at all. Bielsa's biggest error was simply his refusal to bring in additional players which very nearly cost Leeds dearly. They are unlikely to make that mistake again.
If we got him on top of the rest of the mooted signings, I’d feel we’d be in with a decent chance of playoffs.
If he's not an upgrade and they're selling their best players, I'm surprised you think they'll stay up. They can bring in all the players they want, but looking at their recruitment over the last few years leaves a lot to be desired.
He doesn't need to be 'an upgrade'. He 'just' needs to be a decent manager. Selling only their best (in some people's view at least) 2 players will give them a war chest of around £100 million which will allow them to strengthen where needed, including in the missing depth. Like it or not, they are still a big draw. They also have very good youth coming through. I just don't see them making the same mistakes again (unfortunately).
