The irony of what you've just said is that if he does sign, then Shota is pretty unlikely to have seen play regularly live. He certainly won't have seen him in training either
Not really. When do contracts end internationally? When's the European window open for international transfers? Which of the incomings have been on international duty and only had 2 weeks of time with their families? They've agreed Traore, Allahyar and Tufun. It's been widely reported. They're hopeful on Seri and Baxter and looking for 2 strikers. It'll be official when it's official and if its bullshit it will be proven as such - though some will be like Twine - we genuinely go after but the player opts elsewhere - so not entirely bullshit, just unsuccessful. There will be other targets. Chill the **** out.
Maybe I'm silly for wanting the new signings bedded in and training with the group early so that we can hit the ground running. Overturning as much of the squad as we have/are doing (an entirely new front line just about, and a new midfield trio from the sounds of things) means needing plenty of time to train and develop together. The season is 5 weeks away which is still a decent amount of time, but there's a reason people are wanting signings announced sooner rather than later..
I don't agree with this, a lot of people say they need to 'bed in and gel together'. The players we're getting are etiher all internationals who have been playing in a countries to division or have played for promotion winning sides so are aware of Championship football, it's not a complicated game and players of quality. really don't need a lot of time to adapt to new training methods and a managers vision. If you was targeting somone like Twine who has never played at this level then yes they need time, due to inexperience, training levels being more intense, getting used to quality around them etc.
You don't think that getting signings done earlier rather than later is a good thing? Can't agree with that at all. Regardless of level.
What a strange response to a simple question. I thought this was a discussion on timing of signings.. in a thread for discussing signings. Which you started by responding to me. But off you go.
. It is important to have them bedded in before the season starts, but then we don't have this clamour in January when we're aching for signings, suddenly gelling doesn't seem so important and players more often than not have to just get on with it and do. Genuinely, people just like new players. The idea of a player who's never played for us potentially being amazing or scoring 30 goals a season brings big appeal and curiosity, which is why transfer deadline day is a thing. If transfer deadline day only contained outgoing players every time nobody would give a ****.
Acun is due in at Humberside later this morning, so maybe, just maybe, we might see some more progress with a few things
Just someone who would know said he’s flying into Humberside Airport this morning. I have no other info apart from that, the rest of the post was hope more than anything!
Agree with @SydneyTiger14 it’s important players arrive earlier so they can “gel” you can’t just throw X into a team and expect them to be at their best with a bunch of strangers, in new surroundings, new country, new language, new coach, new tactics.
