As far as I understand it, this law change just means that the individual states can now decide and that abortion isn’t a federal issue?

It’s not a ban on abortions. Or am I missing something?

The contentious things are that it is effectively a ban in certain states due to trigger laws. A drastic change almost overnight

And then there is just this week that the court decided it could overrule the states on gun laws. But on this it is ok for the states to do whatever they want

The point will be that it is “states rights….oh not for those things”

Yeah, I'm more illustrating the pitfalls for those comfortable middle class sorts who feel like this will affect the poors, but not them. I think they're seriously underestimating the level of radicalization that has occurred in the past two decades; red state Republicans want abortion treated as murder, full stop, and you don't stop punishing murder just because it occurred out of state.

It's also 'states rights'...for now. The decision intentionally leaves the door open for a federal ban.

We've also seen a slew of cases where 'states rights' only applies when they want it to apply. New York's stringent requirements for concealed carry were 'states rights', and a century old law to boot. They got tossed by the same six justices, a day earlier.

There is a difference in that gun laws are written in the constitution.

In my opinion, smaller government and decentralised democracy is a win for society. I know abortion is a contentious issue, but the Supreme Court deciding to give more power to states is overall a good thing.

It’s a shame that the one time a government actually decides to stop being power hungry, it’s on an issue like this. However my opinion still stands. I do think it’s good that states can choose for themselves. That’s how democracy should work.

Also I do find it funny that a lot of the same people that backed the government dictating vaccine mandates with vigour are now the same people who are outraged at the government dictating what a woman can do with her body.

Very hypocritical imo. Personally I am pro-choice in both

That's not even remotely what is happening here, but yay for smaller government, that allows the government to investigate and prosecute women who not only have had abortions, but may have taken some other action that caused a pregnancy to fail. Definitely decentralized democracy at its finest what in the ever loving ****.

Sant Tejon!!! Donde esta en Espana? If near Sevilla, that is a good place to meet up for a game and a drink. Lots from the the UK go to Sevill go for a weekend there during the season as it is cooler and not so crowded, and sometimes get as far as the stadium if they have not drunk too much.

Seville and cooler are not two things I’d put together. I went there in July once and I thought my face was going to melt!

I have always thought this country has a lot going for it .

Due to BJ I admit I am concerned about the future .

Not for me , or Mrs J .

For my two nieces and nephew !

But as I said this country is NOT as bad as others .

Even better that individuals can choose for themselves on this issue.

    Propaganda.

The media is literally propaganda. It’s as bad now as it was in Nazi Germany. Goebbels would be proud of the control that is enforced upon this country…and social media is his wet dream.

The only difference is that the propaganda for now is in the interests of the oligarchs that own them. It’s a slippery slope from where we are now to fulll blown totalitarianism tbh.

I know I’ll be called crazy or whatever but I don’t care because it’s ****ing blatantly obvious to me. It’s not the theories that are crazy - it IS crazy that this the media is allowed to sway the nation with lies and spin like this. This isn’t an opinion piece. This is straight up propaganda

No that's not so. As I've said more than once those that choose not to be vaccinated are free to do so but will have to accept whatever restrictions that decision brings. I've just travelled on Eurostar using my vaccination certificate. We'll be going to Indonesia later this year when certification is required as it on most international journeys. That's all I have to say on this matter nothing further to add.
