Best news of the day! Then again, knowing our luck, we'll be chuffed that we got 30 bob for him - only for him to suddenly become world class & worth £200m. Sounds ridiculous, but so are many of the bad luck moments we suffered this season.
Can't keep up with all these signings we're supposed to be after, so my apologies if someone has already posted this (alleged) bid ..... http://www.thehardtackle.com/transf...s-united-table-offer-to-charles-de-ketelaere/ Leeds United have reportedly made their opening move to land Charles De Ketelaere by making an offer to the Club Brugge forward. According to Calciomercato, Premier League side Leeds United have tabled an opening bid for highly talented Belgian international Charles De Ketelaere. The 21-year-old is making a name for himself at Club Brugge and is among the rising names in European football. De Ketelaere’s contract with the Belgian giants runs until 2024, but he could be on the move to greener pastures this summer. De Ketelaere remains grateful for the opportunity he received at Brugge but is keen to move on. There is no shortage of interest in him either with AC Milan, Leicester City and Leeds United all keen. The Whites have now made their opening move and tabled an offer for the 21-year-old. Jesse Marsch’s side staved off relegation by a whisker last season and require a summer revamp. Brazilian star Raphinha was Leeds’s standout player last season and can be attributed to playing a huge role in them escaping the drop. He is keen to move on this summer, and doing so will leave a huge void in the Yorkshire side’s attack. De Ketelaere can also play on the right-hand side, but it is in the central attacking role that he thrives in. The attacking midfielder possesses good movement and also has an eye for making passes that split open opposition defences. Leeds struggled to score many goals last season, and signing the Belgian international will be an infusion of inspiration in creativity. The 21-year-old is also a good dribbler and can score eye-catching goals himself. His ability to act as a lynchpin for the players around him will hand Marsch an advantage in breaking down opposition defences. It could also help the likes of Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo Moreno rediscover their best upfront. De Ketelaere is a player with a bright future and could be counted among the best creative midfielders in Europe should he develop as expected. Landing him this summer will be nothing short of a coup for Leeds, who are far from being one of Europe’s top destinations at this point. The biggest threat to their aspirations could come from San Siro. AC Milan have identified De Ketelaere as a priority, and whether they will raise the stakes by making an offer for the 21-year-old Belgian international themselves remains to be seen.
this one ‘broke’ a couple of days ago WJ. Think there’s no chance but the lad certainly looks a player.
I don't know what it is with sales but we always seem to end up on the bad end. £45m for Phillips we have had our pants well and truly taken down. Ben White went for £50M had a season in the Championship yes good player but was unproven in the Prem also at the time was not a international. Kalvin has had 2 seasons in the Prem is a regular England starter and goes for 45M. Grealish 100m. Rice rated at over 100m Ward Prowse Saints want £75M. It's looking very unlikely we will even hit 100m for our 2 main assets in Phillips and Rapha. I would really like some experienced Prem players now it all sounds good taking the johnny foreigners but realistically all still have it to prove.
Well both White and Grealish had 4 years left on their contract when they were sold. Ward-Prowse signed a 5 year contract last August, so still got 4 years left. Rice is still only 2 years into a 5 year contract. White had also played a full season in the Premier League, with Brighton, when he signed for Arsenal, so not exactly unproven, in fact before joining Arsenal, he had played 13 games less than KP has played in the PL to date. Whilst I don't disagree with you regards the fee for Phillips, once a player approaches 2 years left on their contract, a clubs negotiating stance is reduced, whilst clubs are still in a strong position to demand a premium price for a player with at least 3 years left on their contract.
Soddas even the YEP are saying the deal is worth up to £55m and I reckon creative accounting has taken place too because no way does anyone pay £5m for an untried 18yo midfielder…
I suppose the next question is how do Southampton, Brighton, West Ham etc get these players tied down on super long contracts and we don't? Radz and Orta out! please log in to view this image
Well given that KP signed his last contract in 2019, which expires in 2024, and both Radz and Orta were at the club when that happened, I presume that you will therefore also give them praise for tying a player down to a super long term contract
Belgian super kid Charles de Ketelueres agent has said he won't be answering the phone to Leeds as his client wants to play higher.
