The signing I want most is Eriksen, dictates games with ease. Won’t cost out minus wages. But SSN claiming he’s choosing between Man U and staying at Brentford. Shame, the type of player who’d catapult us up the league.
Well, good luck to Eriksen for whatever he wants to do. But if it was a choice between us and Man U for him, he has to choose between a complete shambles of a dressing room, where one player dictates the bad news headlines every week, or a dressing room of total unity, with everyone on the packed terraces happy and waving flags every week. Tough call!
I would love him also. But I think he might stay at Brentford. I have a sneaky suspicion we will end up with Bale.
Newcastle clearly don't want to spend silly money on wages to land players that are way past their best and lost much of their drive to get better.
I agree, one thing for sure is there seems a wage structure mainly not to upset the dressing room. Personally, I’d love to see a ‘big name’ come though, even if just for a season or 2 just to give more attraction to players elsewhere joining. I don’t think we will but kinda like Man City’s Robinho signing (even though he ended up ****) but it showed their ambition and other players quickly followed.
So since January we’ve signed the following:- Trippier - £25m Targett - £15m Pope - £10m £50m for 2 (potentially 3) England internationals is pretty good business in my book. Obviously Bruno and Dan Burn had a massive impact also and pretty much doubled that outlay. I'm not even counting Wood as I firmly believe that his impact was felt more in Burnley's team than ours to be fair, i'd be happy to re-assess him based on performances next season in a team that will hopefully play a bit more freely from the off rather than when they all came in back in Jan and had to haul our sorry ass out of the relegation zone. I'd be more than happy with adding some good quality £15m - £25m players the wrong side of 25 along with 2 or 3 absolute ballers like Bruno being brought in as well over the next 2-3 transfer windows which I think may the way Eddie is heading in terms of recruitment. It's worked a treat so far and long may it continue!
